performance is getting temptingly close to a tera flop, maybe another Foxconn will do it If WCG tera-flops are like for like with regular ones then 20 years ago you'd have as much computing power as the worlds most powerful supercomputer ASCI Red hope you're not planning any nuclear weapons nice one, gotta be done!@Tom, I briefly looked at water cooling for the old C6100 but 8 procs on the first effort would I'm sure have been a disaster, once I got it below 50db I was content anyhow. How was the fitting? Incredibly my fans turned up today so I've been soldering them onto the Dell 6 pin plugs, fired up one node and doing a burn in test, so far it's been running 30mins with all 16 cores at 100% and the temp hasn't gone above 71deg, will leave it on for another hour to see what the heat soak does but it's looking stable TBH. I don't mind it running a bit hot as long as the sound is bearable - with one and a quarter C6100's running it's still hovering just under 50dba in this room but it is now 28.5deg ![]()
cheers,

Good morning all. I'm getting green with envy about all of this 'TeraFlop' talk. I'm still struggling with my Macs but the 27" iMac, since I cleaned the heat sinks, has a new lease of life and is producing 193 points / h compared with 120 before. Now it is time to attack the two MBPs and see what dust can be extracted from them.

Good afternoon all.
@Tom, I briefly looked at water cooling for the old C6100 but 8 procs on the first effort would I'm sure have been a disaster, once I got it below 50db I was content anyhow. How was the fitting? Mac1, It turned out to be simpler than I thought. I had to remove the motherboard, remove the 4 little screws that hold the heatsink cradle, then replace it with the supplied cradle. Then a simple application of thermal paste and screw on the water heatsink, job done. The fan case supplied was tight for the case I had but just fit... |

Good morning everyone. Having mega internet problems with my 27" iMac. Mail has ceased to work and will only connect to a defunct account - Gmail is not available as Firefox says that the certificate is incorrectly configured for HTTPS, I keep getting OPEN DNS Domain blocking on various sites including my VPN acoount with hide.me BUT - the other two MBPs work as normal. Has anyone of you techie giants got the slightest idea what is happening?

Rod... My best guess would be that you have a virus that has hijacked your DNS resolution. But I could be just scare-mongering.

Good afternoon everyone. I've just about recovered from a long weekend of luxurious opulence, in a 5-star hotel with a Michelin 1-star restaurant. First experience of either, for me and my partner. Very pleasant!!!

Dave - absolutely correct - but I did read your post after I had fixed it. I think that it nmight have been caused when I installed MPlayerX to try to get a better handle on x265 codec. This was flagged up by bitdefender as having a virus (even though I downloaded it from the official site). I had a look at my DNS Servers in my WiFi settings and I found four rogue entries. 208.67.222.222 208.67.220.220 8.8.8.8 8.8.4.4 Having removed all of these I appear to be back up and running. It did take me a day of sweat and tears to find it though.
