Re: Good evening team

Morning all.

DC I think you have a job for life!!!!!!

RTS48, I think it goes with the stats territory as JonnieB found out when he took on the task of being the team's resident statsmeister. It just seems to just keep expanding.

As I say DC, just a thought for when, if like the programmers I work with who seem to always have to be coding something, you get twitchy programming fingers wink

Re: Good evening team

Good morning all - yes there seems to be a pause in the updating of the Signature stats. I am just 11 CPU days away from 99 years of crunching but the stats report 98.6 years. I'm sure it will sort itself out soon. Also the Free-DC stats seem to have frozen too. Perhaps it was the BOINC maintenance yesterday which has thrown a spanner in the works.

Re: Good evening team

Good evening crunchers... and it really is a lovely evening here in the southwest midlands, for a change. Blue skies, chiminea gently radiating (smoke mostly), and white wine flowing like water. Even better, I'm within range of my wi-fi, and hence have added Darkmatter's requested feature. It's not 100% yet (too much flowing white wine), but it does mostly work. I've also put in place the required database changes for genhos's request. However, that requires some data to be gathered before I can add that to the web page.
I really would be interested to know how JonnieB used to do the stats. If you're still lurking JonnieB, please pop up to enlighten me. Did you use a program, or just a big spreadsheet?

Re: Good evening team

DC you're amazing. Giving up a lovely sunny day to program some stats,
I used to program on an Apple ][e, thought I would try it as a career but found being an SA to be more fun. Apart from the odd script, not really done much since.

I wasn't giving up anything! I spent a couple of hours weeding this morning. I took my son for a driving lesson, I walked to the park and listened to the slightly off-tune Tewkesbury town band, roasted a chicken, ate it (not all of it), and then spent a couple of hours sat in the shade hacking away. Very therapeutic and relaxing, until I was joined by a medium sized rat sad
I'm mainly a programmer, but do a bit of everything. I've got to spend some time redesigning our office network next week (but that's because our system administrator is lacking in some vital skills).

BTW, the Predictoriser suggests that RTS48 will hit 100 years of run time in 24 days time. There will be partying down in Santa Cruz for sure smile

I doff my cap to you DC, I really didn't expect you to put the work in so quick.
I'm not certain but I think JonnieB used to screen scrape the data together into a spreadsheet and use formulas to calculate the milestones/predictions/badges etc.
As I say, not certain but hopefully JonnieB will see this and reply but I also notice that sadly he hasn't returned a result in a couple of months.

Re: Good evening team

Howdy all!

Hope everyone is well.

Haven't been on the forums much recently sorry to say. I won't be for a while either, heading to Portsmouth for my graduation on Tuesday, then driving back on Thursday AND then off to Thailand on Friday for a month. Can't wait to get there, although slightly nervous.

As regards to crunching, I'll be leaving only one VM running so sadly I won't be contributing much.

If I don't speak to you throughout the week, take care and I will see you all in a months time!

I

That's what you call a full day!

I spent today on a beach with my son, and took the dog for a walk.
Not as productive a day as yourself but I had a bad pain day.

Only 52 days till 50million biggrin

Only a mediun sized Rat Dave? We have big boogers here about the size of a medium pig! Capybara ((Hydrochoerus hydrochaeris) is an aquatic rodent native to South America and can be aggressive. I've seen tracks of them in the condominium but have never actually spotted one here.

As for partying - it's a way of life here. Yesterday was 'La Paz' day so the family and a few friends came round and we polished off 8 or more bottles of 'vino tinto' and had a traditional meal which I will not begin to describe. 24 days should see us well into Spring here so I will fire up the Barbie and crack a few bottles. !!CHEERS!!
