If someone has an app_info.xml to run more than one WU, but doesn't want to post it, pm me please. Also, would there be a way to start them 30 seconds apart?

Sek, am crunching HFCC. I added HCC so I could get the GPU wu's and see both non GPU and GPU wu's get downloaded. After reading the posts to not select HCC but insure selecting the option to use GPU if available, which I do have ticked, I deselected it last night before hitting the hay. Woke up this morning and only have HFCC crunching. Kneed responded to me last night stating there is no separate option for HCC GPU but they are looking into this for the next project. Yes, saw that, but the impression was given that tricked worked... if it does, you proved it to be not reliable. Thx. edit: Asked for someone to draft a workaround FAQ, and here comes knreed, who did: https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,33981 Thanks Sek. Will give this a shot and see what happens. Should know in about 20 minutes. Just looked my crunchers. NOPE. Will not get GPU wu's. I have to select HCC in order to get the GPU wu's.

Thats an understatement. Just imangine if all projects went GPU. Think WCG would be looking for more projects to run instead of projects waiting in line to use WCG The majority of users will have their systems bog down, start complaining about GPU, quit crunching WCG. More complaints that their GPU card is not supported. More accusations and demands by the users. Old computers no longer supported. 32 core computers will do a single WU at a time on their GPU card. Frustration will then abound. It will be great.Once we get to that stage, then the science projects that cannot be run on a GPU will be ignored, WCG will no longer service as many projects and then has no value to the scientific community and dies a horrible death. Great planning on your part. LONG LIVE THE GPU! You should be in a drama movie. Sheeesh!

In Moowrapper, Milkyway and Donate, you can turn the memory clock down to 400mhz to save heat, As those projects use the core for power. On Collatz it needs memory and core clock high.
What is the setup here at WCG? |

Nice apocalyptic scenario, though, got to give you that. Cheers! Edit: BladeD, no PM option in this forum, sorry! Found that the hard way myself just yesterday when nanoprobe set me straight... Actually there is, in a way, a PM system. You have 2 email addresses as choice in My Profile. Use a gridonly backup type mail account at e.g. google mail and publish via the "show email". Can only be seen by members, whilst signed in to the forums. My request to the WCG developers would be to be able to choose in the forum profile which of the 2 mails to show in the forums footer. I would put the team mail there [which is really disposable]. Right now, my primary grid mail would be shown there, and that I'd not like to get around the blog. |

Well, seeing as my Computer only crunches for the time I am asleep and at school, and I am doing each GPU workunit in 2 minutes or less, I say, bring on the GPU WORK!
----------------------------------------All I do, if I want to use the computer in the morning an hour before I go to school, just set the GPU to wait 15 seconds, check if idle, if so crunch, and then stop when I use the computer again. But, my computers do all this when I am not home...so Im not part of the 98%. |

Thank you, SekeRob, but where were you when nanoprobe was grinding my gears for it? Anywho, call me paranoid, but I wouldn't really like to share any address mail with the members of the forum for several reasons (e.g. hacking, spamming, registering me to who knows what type of websites, etc, etc). It would really be useful if one would have a local inbox, though. Grazie e ciao! Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world! - Albert Einstein |
