Somebody did... the ''active'' Beta testers probably (the presumption is, that if you hit "update" an override is activated) ... at least some others seem to have caught units on ATI devices ;>)
----------------------------------------GPU Beta is limited to N (4 ?) per device that can be downloaded, which has to be crunched and returned before a new one can be fetched, so hitting ''update'' repeatedly when there is one on the machine before any announcement is pointless, and probably 2 hours after the announcement too, since there only a few thousand in the beta test runs and them taking 5 minutes at most per WU test. Sleeping through a beta is no beta testing, albeit, the only evidence is that the job started and finished in some way, but what happened in between? --//-- [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at May 17, 2012 6:51:41 AM] |

any hints/teasers as to when the next batch might land ? Parallel to that, that this thread's OP title be marked as "[Completed]" preferably with notes/feedback from the WCG staff as to how Round-5 went. That should put things in perspective for Round-5, and next set the stage up for Round-6.; |

Shouldn't be too long now that the other Betas are over... I would like to think so too. The CPU has been the darling of the betas for the past weeks or so. Time to pull some of that attention to the GPU front! . Personally, I'd like to hear a 2nd candidate project for a GPU-beta as news. Would it be any of the VINA-based projects? Or CFSW now that the runtimes of CFSW is even less that the HCC CPU runtime?; |

Hoping, hoping, hoping that the next round of GPU betas includes Linux!

Hoping, hoping, hoping that the next round of GPU betas includes Linux! Of late, there is some news of games coming to Linux. The GPU marketing crystal-ball may have shown that games, rather than GPU-computing, would be the beachhead into the consumer Linux-GPU front -- with GPU-computing following right behind. This Linux-GPU-games-first approach may be something that sits well with nVidia. I expect AMD to take the lead in the other approach: the Linux-GPU-computing-first approach.; |

Hoping, hoping, hoping that the next round of GPU betas includes Linux! knreed wrote a month or more ago: First Windows [to production], then it could be quite a while before we start on Linux... (something to that effect... can't find the post ATM for the correct quote). --//-- |
