Re: HCC1 GPU Testing - Next Round (Started on May 10)

Hi, I am new in GPU beta testing. What result of WU is expected? Valid status? And is this situation normal?
Hello JiriLos and welcome to WCG.

What result of WU is expected? Valid status?
Make that "What result of done-GPU-WU is desired?", in which case the answer is "Valid" (status). Because we are in a GPU-beta-test, what makes for a "Valid" done-GPU-WU is being worked at, and with that, what makes for an "Inconclusive" done-GPU-WU will also have to be worked at.

And is this situation normal?
A series of "Inconclusive" done-GPU-WUs, while not normal, is somewhat "expected" in a GPU-beta-test particularly at this time in WCG's GPU-computing development efforts.

680 - must be a model number? Bad timing, I got my computer with the lone GPU disassembled right now. Hopefully next time.

Re: HCC1 GPU Testing - Next Round (Started on May 10)

No Invalid or Inconclusive for the HCC GPU Betas. What is strange is that all the C4CW WUs that were running concurrent with the Betas went Inconclusive. May be a coincidence??

Card PV	Valid
AMD HD 5770 1 25
NVidia GTX 460 12 61
NVidia GTX 465 1 32

Thank you for answers, andzgrid. I didn't know if the GPU beta process is the same as non-GPU one.

We'll do it again sometime wink

If I understand your statement correctly, as far as the sameness of the beta-testing process for a WU for the GPU one and that for the non-GPU one is concerned, well, that is a rather difficult matter to determine. What I will say is that, broadly, there are similarities and there are differences, and that the deeper one goes into understanding these processes, the higher the chance that the similarities will disappear. For naming or designation purposes though, or for purposes of clarity in a discussion, it is wise to use a 'CPU' or a 'GPU' qualifier as much as possible; and doing so will do away with the need to rely on context to differentiate between the two(2) types of WUs -- be it for referring to beta-WUs or for production-WUs of either type.

Re: HCC1 GPU Testing - Next Round (Started on May 10)

I got work on only my AMD GPUs this time, two computers.

HD6950 & HD5870
- boinc 6.12.43
- 13 all valid
- some on each card

HD7750
- boinc 7.0.26
- 5 all invalid
- this doesn't surprise me. There are some architecture changes with the chips on at least the 77xx and 79xx cards which are causing problems with other projects as well.
