Since this Beta process testing began, I have received a total of TWO tasks. One was validated, the other not. I feel slighted. WCG may have felt jealous seeing you GPU-crunching at POEM? Other grids perhaps? ... Nah, probably just the luck of the draw. ; |

Nah, probably just the luck of the draw. ; Hi, andzgrid: You nailed it: they found I was being unfaithful with FAH, POEM, Rosetta, PrimeGrid, malaria control, Docking and others.... Oh, well: I have been punished. Congratulations on your beautiful badge collection! crunching, crunching, crunching. AMD Ryzen 5 2600 6-core Processor with Windows 11 64 Pro. Hello John C MacAlister
Reference: John C MacAlister [May 11, 2012 6:29:56 PM] post I was just trying to cheer you up, just in case, you know... After all, everyone including WCG could use your GPU-crunching assets and experience. That goes for all multi-grid crunchers as well. I'm planning on joining POEM myself . I've heard that POEM needs the latest BOINC version specially for their GPU-WUs. So let me see, why do I have BOINC_v7.0.25... Oops, what have I just said? Do I see zero beta-WCG-GPU-WUs up ahead for me... ; |

The "AMD APP SDK Runtime" that's included in the Catalyst release download or the "AMD APP SDK" Developer download ? Does the developer one have something OpenCL special that the runtime version doesn't? If you don't use the developer one, always going to get invalids? |

Do I see zero beta-WCG-GPU-WUs up ahead for me... ; You did make me laugh: thanks. I have just arranged with my PC-building friend to swap my Phenom II X4 plus some cash for a Phenom II X6 plus more memory to increase my contribution rate to all my selected projects, including WCG. The new configuration will be in place in June. My monthly rate will then be 1.5M points for all and I estimate achieving this tally by about 12 June. My May total 1.5M points will be achieved by ~16 May. I run from 19:00 - 07:00 Mon- Fri and 24/7 from 19:00 Friday to 07:00 Monday. Once I reach my monthly target I shut down as electricity costs are higher than I would like. Happy crunching and enjoy the weekend, especially if you still work. I'm retired and have a number of volunteer jobs besides BOINC. crunching, crunching, crunching. AMD Ryzen 5 2600 6-core Processor with Windows 11 64 Pro. So what are we talking about here? I used the Catalyst one. Without it tasks would error out as soon as they started. The "AMD APP SDK Runtime" that's included in the Catalyst release download or the "AMD APP SDK" Developer download ? Does the developer one have something OpenCL special that the runtime version doesn't? If you don't use the developer one, always going to get invalids? I never bothered with the OpenCL developer-version driver/SDK. It strikes me as illogical that AMD would require users to have the developer-version OpenCL GPU-driver else their GPU-computing apps may possibly foul up, and equally illogical that developers would develop OpenCL apps that requires a developer-version to run their OpenCL apps else, again, possibly foul up. Still, seeing illogical about doing things does not guarantee that it wouldn't happen. So, yes, there is a potential for some doubt surrounding which versions to use, if at all it is these choices that end up causing foul-ups. I have a feeling the fault lies somewhere else though. ; |
