Still none.. Some betas for a program I don't particularry want to run and thats it,,
----------------------------------------Bottom line is I check the beta program box to get GPU work for HCC and get beta cpu work for something totally different which takes my machine off of what I wanted to do.. Not too happy about this. |

Works too, long as the task is still in the slot. :D Task manager I presume is than showing this (from the result log): wcg_beta3_img_6.44_windows_intelx86__cuda_opencl True? --//-- I am not even sure what you are asking. The log I pasted in was from the WCG website BOINC Results. I can't find the stderr.txt on the XP machine, I downloaded the BOINCTasks and that did not answer my question and since most of my machines do not have fixed IP numbers, then it seems mostly useless and since I don't understand the comment: The time dear Sir, the time... 5 minutes (the credit is meant to match the CPU version fairly, long as only one X-Ray image is packaged in 1 task) :D If you'd use BOINCTasks you'd actually be able to track it back in the history where the application is shown that ran the test. unless I assume that the 0.05 is supposed to be 5 minutes and that means it is a GPU task, I still don't have the answer to my one simple question. Oh well. |

You know, it would be nice if there were a way to make available a bunch of duplicate GPU WUs that folks could use to test their rigs. I do see control issues but it would be nice anyway. I suppose the only real test will be when the beta ends. Kind Regards to all. Oh well. rhetorical question - Which one of these WUs is a CPU or GPU that was processed on the same device? Maybe in the future the WU task name will include some GPU designation to answer your simple question. Or did you have another simple question? Edit: Found this post by armstrdj: For those seeing high CPU time can you verify that you are not running a cpu workunit. This can be verified by looking at the tasks tab on the advanced view of the BOINC client. If the task is GPU it will have either ATI or NVIDIA in parenthesis after the task name. The GPU version will use cpu at the start for a bit to do some initial things but it should start to use GPU only once the % complete begins to increment. Thanks, armstrdj [Edit 1 times, last edit by BSD at Mar 21, 2012 3:03:25 AM] |

Patience I have, wasting my time I don't..I'm just deleting them and going to uncheck the betas as this really is a waste of time. A few tossed out every couple days, odds are way against me seeing any |

Beta testing isn't for everyone. :) Not when you sign up to fo beta testing on HCC GPU and they send you none of those but send you cpu beta WU for a totally unrelated program |

@Movieman: Sorry you're feeling the way you seem to be about the non-GPU-HCC betas. Like undersized fish, throw them back into the pond and they'll be eagerly snapped up by the hungry badge-hunting sharks.
----------------------------------------The boxes on our My Grid >> Beta Testing page just allow beta testing on devices with the profiles that you nominate; there's no option to select only certain projects. You ticked the boxes ... The HCC GPU betas may have been released prematurely because the HCC scientists decided to present the project at a conference in late 2011, expecting crunching to be underway by the time the Proceedings of the conference would be published. See: WCG Resarch >> Help Conquer Cancer >> Help Conquer Cancer status report: The main publication from WCG work: Kotseruba, Y., Cumbaa, C. A., Jurisica, I. High-throughput protein crystallization on the World Community Grid and the GPU. J Physics: Conference Series, High Performance Computing Symposium (HPCS 2011: HPC in Medical Science), 2011. In press. And they decided to publish a paper on it that has only recently appeared: The Help Conquer Cancer Project Publishes Paper in Journal of Physics . Because of the lead time for publication, they'd have submitted it to the Journal months ago. Then when the paper came out, they had to have some WUs out there, didn't they? KNReed plus the HCC programmers are probably bald men by now, having pulled all their hair out trying to fix the bugs. I'm sure the next batch of beta WUs will come along when and only when the techs have something new to test. I think the HCC and WCG people are rather brave for undertaking this GPU project using such a recent and immature technology as openCL, and I hope they are getting support from the openCL community and GPU manufacturers. Not when you sign up to fo beta testing on HCC GPU and they send you none of those but send you cpu beta WU for a totally unrelated program. The check boxes to receive REGULAR work units is TOTALLY different than the check box to receive Beta units, they ARE NOT related!! If you have the check box checked to receive Beta units, you will get them even if NONE of the boxes above it are checked!! As stated there is currently only ONE check box for the Beta units though, not a project by project one. So it is an all or nothing thing, at least for right now. LOTS of things are 'in the works', but I do not know if that is one of them or not. One of the things that I DO know about will be the ability to check to receive cpu OR gpu units, or both or even neither, when the project goes 'live'.
