Also, we know this beta started late for our European crunchers, which is why I will trigger more work units to go out late tonight and early tomorrow. Right now we have about 10,000 results out in the wild. I will release that many if not more in the next 12-24 hours. Thanks A Fair move These are the first Betas I received in 4 months with 18 cores running 24/7 |

I've received 4 WUs so far. First one finished in 1.99hrs; the remaining units are "estimated" at ~3 to 4.5 hrs.
----------------------------------------My guess on the longer times may have to do with the fact that I have been using my quad-core for several other non-WCG projects today and that seems to have a major effect on estimated times. BTW, the box that is receiving these beta units runs 24/7 so the estimated times may change a bit as more time elapses. Only 46 days until March 17th! *Holds out bowl* "Please sir, may I have some more?" I only need around another 60 days worth to turn ruby. *Holds out extra large bowl* Hard to make headway when all but 1 so far have run less than an hour. Up to 18 pages of results. For all of you asking how, you need a lot of cores and a lot of work. Define a lot of cores? I have 33 cores between 2 boxes and received only 8. Granted my 22 core PC is online 24/7, the other gets manually connected once per day so can see this one not getting any. Am guessing you keep a low cache and connected 24/7. That's how my main rig that's connected 24/7 got the 8. I did get one wu that has a 24 HR deadline. With the low completion time, can see how folks missed out on this batch.

range anwhere from 2.13 to .17 hours edit to add memory- For the ones I saw, memory was pretty much like this- a few went up to 62 mb Some of these are amazingly short. .47-1.95 hours on a P3/1.4. (Wingman did the first one in .19.) Similar to pramo, largest memory use I've seen under linux is 55MB. (70MB virtual) These would run fine on a machine with <256MB RAM. |

Got a few on different systems. All 50 to 60MB tasks so far. Unfortunately they don't take very long, even on slow CPU's, so looks like I'll be stuck with red for a while yet.

Greetings all,
Estimated times may be off a bit on the grouping I just sent out. These work units will run longer than the previous batches. about 3-6 times as long. We are hoping they run in the ball park of 3 hours based on the estimates created from the tiny guys that have been sent out in the past few days. There are over 12,000 results that need to be sent out. Previous work units had the identifier AAA74693, these new ones will be different.... AAB20794 and AAB20796 Thanks, -Uplinger |

BETA_ SN2S_ AAA74693_ 0000000_ 0081_ 1-- user1-Satellite -L305 In Progress 1/30/12 23:28:16 2/3/12 23:28:16 0.00 0.0 / 0.0 that is shown on my grid under the results status, on my laptop is is only showing : DSFL_00000110_0000017_0653_0 using dsfl version 624 and nothing else in query does anyone know whats that all about? No, unless there's somewhere a forgotten host crunching under your account with the user1-Satellite device name. --//-- user1-satelite is my laptop that I use no other device under the same name Well, there's also that button on the left to show more than just the running tasks.;>) --//-- are you referring to "show all task" command? I already have it selected it only has the option to "show active task" So many quotes... Anyways, hunterkasy, if you don't mind can you look at your messages tab and see if the work unit was listed in there? If you want to you can "Copy All Messages" and save it to a text file. Then email that text file to support@worldcommunitygrid.org with a subject line ATTN: uplinger. This will only be informational if you have not rebooted your machine since you noticed the issue. Messages get cleared from the agent when it starts up after pc's boot up. Thanks, -Uplinger |
