Only got two this round and I haven't been able to break them yet. They are pretty long running though, the shortest one is headed for over 10 hours. Noticed that at well, they are much longer than the last batch, looking like 12 hours+ instead of 2. |

We are going to send out another small wave to make sure some of our backend server scripts are ready. This is not just a server script test. These are huge. Only my slow machines caught any and the quickest of them has done 0.061 in 18053 secs, so it's looking at completion in around 82 hours. |

These are some big ones but that will probably be adjusted before production. The shortest one that has cleared so far was just over 7 hours on I7 980 and some are tracking from 10-12 on I7 920. I have had no problems on the wu's or the graphics. I was just lucky to grab what I did but it should add about 20 days to my quest toward the elusive blue beta ... only have about 250 days to go ...

No complaints, but if the testing is to establish the robustness of the sizing scripts, there's a bit more work on hand. The first Beta finished with 15 hours on an I7 [Q6600 took 9-10 hours for the 4], which threw the usual DCF banana curve ball. Since the queue had a dozen CEP2 & DSFL repair jobs queued or in progress [yes this is a reliable host returning all work within 48 hours], these suffered a Greek GNP budget comedy of inflation too [our national budget is a comedy too btw ;>]... total panic in the queue and no task agreeing who's 'to go' first.. all listed bloody red in the BOINCTasks view.

For others: I haven't been able to recreate this locally, has anyone else had this problem? Boo hoo, maybe just me then. There's a similar problem with GFAM & DSFL, in that the graphics does run successfully until I hit the Close button, at which point the same error dialogue appears. Still no prob with CEP2 graphics. though. Email sent to Seippel earlier. |

With the version 6 API as used by WCG on all sciences, crashing graphics no longer is supposed to borg the science task, so it would be a ''don't view'' penalty if the cause can't be found or fixed. Still, what BOINC version, how installed [service/PAE or only running when user logs in] and how up to date are video drivers (what version) are on this system?

Indeed, I was pleased that the science tasks continued without a visible problem, with just the graphics process crashing. All 4 Betas from the i5 are still in PV, so I won't know for sure until they go through validation.
I have BOINC 6.10.58 installed as a service. The GPU is a BFG GTS250 OC Edition, driver version 285.62 (8.17.12.8562) dated 15.10.2011. Latest at NVIDIA is GeForce 295.73 WHQL, Release Date: 21.2.2012 (!). I'll give that a go when I've heard back from Seippel (in case any tests on the failing system are asked for). This is on Win7 64-bit SP1. I never did find a stderrgfx.txt, even running GFAM, DSFL or CEP2 graphics. Does it just appear in the slots subdirectory? In case it's relevant, I have my data directory at D:\ProgramData\BOINC. |

I got one of these new Betas: BETA_SN2S_A37114_0000001_0305 and it ran for 8.45 hours, pending validation. But seems to be ok (did not error out or anything directly).

FWIW-
----------------------------------------I left the graphics open on the top one for at least half an hour with no crash, swapped back and forth on the bottom two every five minutes for a half hour or so, no problem.
