Latest problem.
----------------------------------------The remaining beta WU on my laptop is "Waiting for GPU" Is there any way round this? I have already ticked use GPU while in use, just incase that helped. Patrick [Edit 1 times, last edit by pcwr at Feb 2, 2012 3:43:17 PM] |

Actually, not remembering, nor trying, what client version you have, disabling the GPU in the cc_config.xml <options> section with <no_gpus>1</no_gpus> would certainly make BOINC not to wait on anything relating to the GPU. Restart of client required. Considering that you do not GPU crunching elsewhere presently.

Thanks.
----------------------------------------Line added and rebooted. BTW, I installed 6.10.58 as a service instead of 6.12.34 (x64) Patrick |

hmm, the 2 BOINC machienes here (W7 and OSX 10.7.2the other) got some 13 WUs. All but 2 are complete. Two at the 10.7 machine didnt strarted yet ? All others went smooth. Due dateis 5.2.12. I thought BETA gets another priority ?

I thought BETA gets another priority ? It only gets a higher run priority if the client thinks they won't finish in time. There are ways to make that happen automatically on some clients, but that's in other threads. Distributed computing volunteer since September 27, 2000 |

Well, members are not in a rush to complete the Beta... 2 days after completing the last one still having 6 in PV jail.
Notably, I've modded the Beta & Deadline Rush FAQ since the Switch App trick no longer works for 6.12 and 7.0. Not found another way but to carefully mod the Connect Every value and carefully go through steps each time when setting crosshairs for more than the chance Beta/DDDT2 receipts. If done loosehanded you'll end up with 3-4 days of general available work being cached. Just that y'all know. [further discussion not appropriate to this thread!] To date, this beta series has delivered 39,373 results for 9.45 CPU years of crunching... suspect more testing as the [silent] launch date is not today or tomorrow [:heavy_winking_smiley_insert]. The scheme is, as always: Get some serious result numbers in so new arrivals to WCG [who initially come in just for project 20] will find a generally stable supply of WU's that run without getting stuck and not have support scramble for things not observed/reported in Beta [in significant numbers]. Till formal launch, a slow rampup, so all sausage butchers from the civil guard are warned... just don't hammer the stake [the update button]... there will be enough work for all to get their badges and double/triple them to the max. Making it up as I go, but as fables, all with a core of fact and truth ;>) --//-- |

Well SekeRob, if a new project is due to launch very soon (i.e. within the next week or two), I may just have to re-adjust my 'mega-badge upgrade' plans.
----------------------------------------As can be seen from my stats (below), I've now got 4 ready to upgrade, with a 5th not that far away. Thing is, to get a complete set (Silver to Gold), I need a Beta upgrade - and that'll be extremely challenging. So, if a new project comes along before I get C4CW lined up, then I may just budge GFAM & DSFL up 1 level, prepare them for the next badge upgrade (along with the new project), and go for a complete set... Of course, I'm keeping a close eye on when HFCC is due to finish - as I certainly don't want to be stranded just 1 WU away from missing my Sapphire badge. GFAM 0:013:08:45:41 (Nothing to Bronze) DSFL 0:044:04:29:45 (Bronze to Silver) C4CW 0:137:16:26:29 (Gold to Ruby) HPF2 0:364:16:21:34 (Ruby to Emerald) HFCC 1:364:16:45:26 (Emerald to Sapphire) Beta 0:077:19:02:22 (Silver to Gold) |

At least 24 hours more of no reply resends. I keep picking up a result here and there. Can't wait for the next full batch release.
