grumpy,
----------------------------------------When I did a clean install of Windows I must have changed something which caused BOINC to think it was a new device. If yours does it too it is not a problem. The new results will be attributed to the new device. For record purposes they do not delete devices, any work units processed with a PC stay with that device forever. It really does not matter as you get credit for all of your past and present devices. It just makes the device count incorrect for current number of devices.

dl1000v,
----------------------------------------It was a coincidence that you returned to the team the same day I put my newly built i7-2700k on line. You have managed to do in about 90 days what it took me 4.5 years to accomplish. Congratulations. I wanted to ask, is dl1000v a motorcycle? My only bike was a blue 500cc Kawasaki. 0-60 mph in 4 seconds; it was difficult to hold onto the handlebars. That bike had so much torque it wouldn't keep the front wheel on the ground. When the tach hit 3000 RPM it was like an afterburner kicked in. It was stolen on Valentines Day many years ago. That probably saved my life.

Last year we had 4" of snow and a white Christmas.
----------------------------------------No such luck this year. And, the Christmas wish to Santa didn't happen; must be he couldn't fit a mainframe in the chimney. Guess it would help if the chimneys did not have stainless steel caps to keep the chimney swallows from nesting. Aside from the above it is a really nice holiday. I hope everyone is enjoying the holidays.

RCC - I was real careful to give my PC the same name it had before the event.
Windows defaults the pc name to USERNAME-PC and it almost got away with it. My data processing center (ie spare bedroom) is occupied so i can't get in to play. |

Two minutes of that would have me in traction.
I prefer Waterfall hikes. We have many waterfalls here and they're relatively easy to get to. ![]() |

When I lived in Florida i tried dancing on the beach in pink tights; but it didn't end well.
----------------------------------------In Watkins Glen, New York they have a state park where you can walk along side of and under the falls. It is really nice but quite a climb for a couch potato. It is about 600 ft elevation change from bottom to top. I found the easiest way to do the falls was to park at the bottom and take a cab to the top. Hiking in just one direction is still quite a hike.

grumpygrampy,
----------------------------------------Looking at CPUID CPU-Z it looks like my i7 RAM is running below the rated speed. The memory is G.SKILL DDR3-1866 PC3-14900 4096MBx4 CL9-10-9-28 1.5V. Dram frequency 802.4 MHz FSB:DRAM 1:6 CL 11 Clocks tRCD 11 Clocks tRP 11 Clocks tRAS 28 Clocks Command Rate 2T It looks like I may have to enable XMP to get a frequency of 933 MHz. The CPU is running at 4.3 GHz but I would like to raise it in increments to make sure it is stable at the higher speed. The CPU core voltage is 1.056V, much lower than in the forums. I have seen some forums where some claim to get 5.2 out of the CPU but I am not sure that is realistic. Overclocking the CPU incorrectly would most likely cause it not to boot. However, we know that memory can cause filesystem corruption. Going back to my roots I will research and write a MOP like document to follow. That along with the fact that the PC has nothing on it but W7, BOINC, A/V, and some utilities it should be of little consequence if I do mess it up.
