little mermaid,
----------------------------------------I did read it carefully. We would be thrilled to have some new team members that stay but the past does not support that. Totals: Current Members 8 (#3,326) Retired Members 30 All-Time Members 38 http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/team/viewTe...cpu&teamId=0S4B73J4Q1 Unless I am told differently an established cruncher joining this team is a welcome visitor. All visitors are welcome to stay on a permanent basis. This is a personal choice. Just give us a heads up on it. There are the forum police that frown on recruiting members from other teams as it violates the forum rules. We do not recruit from other teams so forum police you can put away the handcuffs. Anyone/everyone is welcome here. (Well, I got in so the rules must be lax.)

The Base Campers' behaviour it not your typical cruncher behaviour.
I read nasher's post as him having decided to become a permanent member of *The Survivors* - but I can be wrong - I think it has happened before. Once. Maybe even twice. But I'm sure nasher himself will come and enlighten us. As to recruiting, I did not try to recruit nasher. I wanted to turn his attention to the fact that Base Camp was going to make a Trek at *The Survivors*. nasher, being a survivor himself, I thought might have wanted to pitch in at that trek. Therefore I did my very best to inform him and invite him to the Trek. My post was deleted which I see as a violation of Freedom of Speech - a basic value and a Human Right my country and I happen to take extremely seriously. Inviting special people to special events has been a practise of Base Camp's since Base Camp was born in 2005, and I do not see how that could be any violation of any rules. If it is, it must surely be the rules needing an overhaul |

little mermaid,
----------------------------------------Please don't take this too seriously. We are happy that you send members our way. If we find someone that can't decide on a team we will certainly send them to Base Camp. I am familiar with your freedom of speech encounter with the forum police. I couldn't agree with you more. My problem is that except for the new members I recruited there is no way to know if someone will stay unless they post it on the forum. That is why I consider some as team visitors, which is a good thing. For example, there is a new cruncher that was recruited on Twitter that joined October 29 and still has not assigned a device. https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/stat/vi...fo.do?userName=msgdlsmith The recruit was located and emailed on 4 occasions with an offer to help, but no action was taken by the recruit. No reply to the last email sent yesterday. I am not sure that recruit even counts as a visitor. i am helpless to change that. This is not a good thing. In my humble opinion a visitor has all of the status and privilege I myself have as a team member. If you are crunching and putting numbers on the board you certainly deserve my respect. Visitors are a good thing and we like em.

Well, we should go to a café and discuss this over a coffee, rcc
I don't send members this way. Well, when we Trekked here, I tried to campaign for you. But in the case of nasher, I specifically invited him to crunch with the Base Campers during our Trek here with you. That nasher seems (as I interpret it) to have joined for good is his own wonderful idea of which I'm very happy - besides: The Trek is over by now. In the case of nanoprobe, I think we shall see his visit as a gesture marking he's a survivor as well and that he may have wanted to catch up on this particular Trek. He is our newest Base Camper and earned his first badge here. Base Camp is not a team in the traditional meaning of Team. It's a Motley Crew of crunchers who band together on Treks and have home teams of their own. But we welcome New Campers in our Forum where we discuss our plans - crunchers who want to join our Treks each time or now and then. Well, it's kind of complicated - a little like religion and politics - that's why it would be nice to sit face to face and discuss it, my former Captain. ![]() |
