Re: smilesmile Join "MyOnlineTeam" Today - Chapter 46smilesmile

This Country has been on a big time decline in morals and values since 1964--

Gerald, we're just showing our age. Back in 1964, our folks were saying the same thing. Society moves on, we don't. I think folks want to do the right thing now just as much as we did in our time. I notice the shrimper didn't say he padded his claim, just that he could understand the impulse to do so. The danger is in the temptation. If there's a real decline, it's not because folks are less honest, it's because they didn't learn from us. You can't practice what wasn't taught. I believe in us average Joes. We're the ones that drive real progress and real growth. The amorality of the executive suite and government is the issue. That is what creates the temptations we face. That is where the danger is. Just because you can save a few million by shipping jobs overseas doesn't mean it's the right decision but those hard issues that can't be measured in dollars and cents just don't seem to have the same relevance they once had. Ah but enough of old men kvetching. wink

Re: smilesmile Join "MyOnlineTeam" Today - Chapter 46smilesmile

As far as crooks goes I have been seeing way to much of it. The solution is for the average Joe to speak up. Currently with the media one hears of a true leader starts following them and whamo they are a child molester or what ever. Stop it! Just stand up for what is right do not expect a leader, if one comes around who deserves support great but most of the time they are angling for something any way. I have put a lot of thought into this as it seems the good guys are and have recently been taking a beating. It is like my friend an ex cop told me, why do the police patrol the main roads during the day while on their shift? Because it is easier to enforce minor laws on law abiding citizens then to have to deal with dangerous criminals at night! The good people are sitting on their hands. When is enough, enough? Creed is good??? Give me a break. But when people no longer continue to say. Business is business! So all is fair in love, war and business? There are consequences to all our actions it just seems to me that crooks find a great scheme run it for all its worth disguised as a business, while holding back about 10% for lawyers fees and fines, IF needed and go on plundering! We let them get away with it! Sorry the soap box was to tempting!

Re: smilesmile Join "MyOnlineTeam" Today - Chapter 46smilesmile

Good Morning Everyone

Back at ya!! smile How BP's Loot Is Changing the Gulf Coast-- http://www.nationalreview.com/planet-gore/250...gulf-coast-greg-pollowitz

Every once in a while, I find something that restores my faith in Human beings. This is not one of them.
Down in Venice, La., an isolated town near the mouth of the Mississippi River, shrimper Acy Cooper Jr. said he understands the impulse to ask for more than you really lost. After all, he said, hadn't BP promised that its rigs were safe? Hadn't the federal government greatly underestimated the size of the spill in its early days?

"How in the heck* can you expect us to be truthful, when they're not?" Cooper said one recent evening, mending a shrimp net on his front lawn.

I can't understand how some people can sleep at night. We see too much of that kind of logic in our society. That is depressing.

We're showing our age. It's sad but I can understand their thinking too. BP has had a history lately of cutting corners. Safety costs money. Besides, the odds weren't too bad. That's not what they told the public of course. So the little guy who tries to stay honest and have a little integrity watches the "suits" get theirs with their jets, house in the Hamptons...and Malibu and Maui and the Riviera, fancy cars, trophy wives, and what all. Then the truth comes out. They don't put a gun to your head but they turn out to be quite adept at pushing the boundaries. We get left holding the bag and have to clean up their mess. They put on their Bambi eyes and say how sorry they are and go back to doing the same thing all over again. In the meantime, we're the ones that can't get the loans we need from the banks, lose our homes in foreclosure, watch our unemployment benefits run out, pray we don't die because we can't afford our meds anymore since our insurance coverage ran out after we got laid off, can't make a living anymore because the public doesn't believe our catch is safe to eat. In those shoes, it's awfully hard to not "play by their rules". This doesn't make it any more right but, in an era when doing the right thing and playing by the rules has become a recipe for losing, it is all too easy to understand. It's this slow but steady erosion of our values that is the real threat, far more that anything that goes on in Washington or the executive suites.

Do you really expect the truth from those companies or from a government?
You will get the truth that is convenient for them. Anything else is irrelevant or event treason. Yes treason! Remember that soldier in a country occupied by multinational forces. He exposed the murdering a civilians with videos, now he faces court-martial.

In my country a news man was ask to reveal is source in what became a major political scandal. He had to go to the Supreme Court to avoid giving up the name. It was a close call.

So don’t blame the victims of those companies or government for trying to get a little more in a case like that. They got the example from those conniving people in control.

POWER CORRUPS, ABSOLUTE POWER CORRUPS ABSOLUTELY.

Ahhhh Haaaa. I spent some time visiting in Silicon Valley. I really enjoyed the visits, the facilities and most of the people. Now that I have you located, your weather comments will make sense to me.

Good Morning MOT coffee coffee . Nice Monday morning here. I regret getting the previous conversation started. I have long considered myself as the standard bearer of informed curmudgeonry. For the most part I have regretted it as it both excites and irritates most people. The best policy is to vote --vote with your votes, your purchases and primarily with your own behavior; the things that each of us control. Everyone Have A Great Day.

RT, I don’t see why you should regret that post. You calmly expressed you opinion. There was no political bias in you post.
Keep posting and mainly keep crunching.
