@RT: Looks like TX vs. CA in a game where one party tries to throw a ball faster than the other party can shake a stick at it.

Good Morning Everyone Back at ya!! ![]() Every once in a while, I find something that restores my faith in Human beings. This is not one of them. Down in Venice, La., an isolated town near the mouth of the Mississippi River, shrimper Acy Cooper Jr. said he understands the impulse to ask for more than you really lost. After all, he said, hadn't BP promised that its rigs were safe? Hadn't the federal government greatly underestimated the size of the spill in its early days? "How in the heck* can you expect us to be truthful, when they're not?" Cooper said one recent evening, mending a shrimp net on his front lawn. I can't understand how some people can sleep at night. We see too much of that kind of logic in our society. That is depressing. In other news: Hello DataMan. Great to hear from you! We here in the DFW area are soooo pleased for the Rangers just to be there. First time ever in the World Series. Of course I will root for the Rangers but frankly, beating the Yankie$$$ out was the biggest deal and no matter how it goes now, it was the best year ever for the Rangers. The Cowboys...well that's a whole nother story. ![]() ![]() I fussed at the WCG in another thread about them restricting us to one CEP WU per machine without telling us about it so if you have a Unix based machine that is only running CEP2, you better go look here . Darth.. Congrats on the emerald ![]() Congrats NiceMedTx ![]() ![]() Hang in there Judson. We are always (well almost) here to help. Everyone have a GREAT day. *edited to appropriate forum language - ErikaT ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by ErikaT at Oct 25, 2010 11:26:40 AM] |

We see too much of that kind of logic in our society. That is depressing. We're showing our age. It's sad but I can understand their thinking too. BP has had a history lately of cutting corners. Safety costs money. Besides, the odds weren't too bad. That's not what they told the public of course. So the little guy who tries to stay honest and have a little integrity watches the "suits" get theirs with their jets, house in the Hamptons...and Malibu and Maui and the Riviera, fancy cars, trophy wives, and what all. Then the truth comes out. They don't put a gun to your head but they turn out to be quite adept at pushing the boundaries. We get left holding the bag and have to clean up their mess. They put on their Bambi eyes and say how sorry they are and go back to doing the same thing all over again. In the meantime, we're the ones that can't get the loans we need from the banks, lose our homes in foreclosure, watch our unemployment benefits run out, pray we don't die because we can't afford our meds anymore since our insurance coverage ran out after we got laid off, can't make a living anymore because the public doesn't believe our catch is safe to eat. In those shoes, it's awfully hard to not "play by their rules". This doesn't make it any more right but, in an era when doing the right thing and playing by the rules has become a recipe for losing, it is all too easy to understand. It's this slow but steady erosion of our values that is the real threat, far more that anything that goes on in Washington or the executive suites. *edited to appropriate forum language - ErikaT ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by ErikaT at Oct 25, 2010 11:27:03 AM] |
