Re: smilesmile Join "MyOnlineTeam" Today - Chapter 46smilesmile

<snip snip> As a certain pointy-eared fellow has been known to say - fascinating! Is it possible to run Windows as a VM on Ubuntu so we can still use the Dark Lord's gifts where required? wink

We need a Unix, Linux, Ubuntu expert (or at least someone much more knowledgeable that yours truly) to figure that out. I personally am a bit averse to that idea as it seems likely that one could not tell what resources were actually going where. I am busy trying to figure out how to reconfigure this place to convert another I7 over to Ubuntu.

I think it would be better to dual boot and just use Windows when necessary--but if you use Ubuntu the learning curve is not so bad--Open Office is pretty good but soon to change due to Oracle not giving much support--the open source community is going to take control of the program--in fact its already happened but it was to fast to get into Maverick Meerkat How To Reboot In Windows From Ubuntu (GRUB 2) http://www.webupd8.org/2010/10/how-to-reboot-in-windows-from-ubuntu.html

GOOD MORNING

OK Where is Mr. Bell?

Edit: OK, I converted the third computer from Windows 7 to Ubuntu. These computers are not used for anything but crunching so I do not have issues with the other stuff as Dubby indicated (Open Office, etc). Still having some problems with the backups and databases because of the conversion..I moved the disk drives off the newly Ubuntu machine to another Win 7 and am dealing with network sharing etc. issues. sad

Typical Good News/Bad News thing. smile

Re: smilesmile Join "MyOnlineTeam" Today - Chapter 46smilesmile

I see some more DDDT2s have gone out. However, there is mention in the DDDT2 forum that they are all failing at the end of crunching. You might want to keep an eye on any you have when your machine starts on them.

Apologize for not participating as much but fixed one smaller cruncher and the new one is almost ready just having issues with connecting through Wi-Fi to down load work. Soon!
