Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

No worries yoro42 those lines of latitude have always fascinated

One day I will break the Global Thermometer data down into Latitudes but I think I will wait until the first 10 years are complete as it's a quite a piece of work (and I need to earn a living smile)

This shower used to be my energy provider

http://www.theguardian.com/business/2014/jun/...cklog-customer-complaints

I moved into a flat end of March 2013 they have just sent my first incorrect bill !!

I moved out of said flat end of October 2013.

Been paying SSE since the beginning of November (Nearly 8 months) in the new place.

For all UK Bill Payers please note that Energy Companies cannot bill you for Gas or Electricity you used over 12 months ago

https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/ofgem-publications/64010/back-billing-leaflet-2012.pdf

http://www.energy-uk.org.uk/publication/finis...r-domestic-customers.html - see back billing sub clause 9 scenario 1 whistling

For a normal energy company - nPower is far from normal - you get a bill every 3 months so this doesn't become an issue.

nPower is the first power company I have ever encountered that I couldn't switch away from and that were incapable of billing me for usage despite me having a meter and me providing meter readings on a regular basis

nPower is the only company that have given me reason to use the word Omnishambles in discussions with them

nPower is the only company I have ever dealt with who threatened to send the Bailiffs around when I was £26.12 in credit (Claiming I owed them £478 from my previous address - which I had already cleared)

Just how hopeless this company is is difficult to describe.

They said, while I was in the flat, that they couldn't bill me with my 3 rate meter. (Day Night and a couple of hours in the afternoon) I said come around and change it for a day and night rate meter. To which the reply was "You will have to provide a certificate of conformance from your electrician before we can change your meter"

So they wanted me to pay out for an electrician so that they could bill me

ROFLMAO

nPower pure comedy gold

I couldn't recommend them highly enough

They still haven't realised I am no longer their customer despite calling in and giving final meter readings and my new address - to which they have just sent the incorrect bill

Hopeless

Then there was the poor unsuspecting soul from nPower who called to offer me Gas Boiler cover for my all electric Flat. That was a fun chat.

Thankfully I can now talk to the nice people at SSE who are consistently lovely

Dave

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

and to cap it all we, in the UK, no longer have any headroom in our electricity supply such that in the event of a cold snap the very same electricity companies are going to pay other companies not to use any electricity so the lights will stay on.

Our industries will be paid to shut down out of the revenue the electricity companies take from us

Just dipped below 10 Million Square Kilometres

http://www.ijis.iarc.uaf.edu/seaice/extent/Sea_Ice_Extent_v2_prev_L.png

Now just a smidgeon less than the size of Canada

85 days

"As a result [of 0.04% CO2], the earth has a fever. And the fever is rising. The experts have told us it is not a passing affliction that will heal by itself. We asked for a second opinion. And a third. And a fourth. And the consistent conclusion, restated with increasing alarm, is that something basic is wrong.

We are what is wrong, and we must make it right.

Last September 21, as the Northern Hemisphere tilted away from the sun, scientists reported with unprecedented distress that the North Polar ice cap is "falling off a cliff." One study estimated that it could be completely gone during summer in less than 22 years. Another new study, to be presented by U.S. Navy researchers later this week, warns it could happen in as little as 7 years.

Seven years from now."

....Nearly there

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

The June 2014 result is in and the average temperature from 2438 NOAA Weather Stations around the Globe was 20.372CC

The average temperature July 2013 through to the end of June 2014 was 12.328C

Here's another forum friendly sized graph that updates hourly

The graphs above are (at this moment in time) the result of 76,678,074 individual temperature measurements taken around the Globe from (the same set of) NOAA Weather Stations since the beginning of 2011 cool
