----------------------------------------See I wasn't making it up I'm not sure how much longer we will be able to keep crunching in the UK You beat me to it Gerald This fiasco (and the support for Nuclear) is entirely off the back of fear of a trace gas making up 0.04% of our atmosphere that's responsible for providing every carbon atom in your own personal carbon based lifeform. CO2 is the basis of you Pu239 really isn't Dave ![]() |

----------------------------------------Yet another Jolly this time in Bonn Haven't they heard of Skype, Oovoo, Facetime, Google Talk or the wonders built around SIP The UN can talk all day it will make no difference, apart from taking money from all our pockets In other news I should be getting 64.2 mpg from mid week Today it's 48 mpg Progress UN. while you talk, real people are making real steps forward with efficiency - we're doing the same with less. My latest graphics card for number crunching takes 1/3 of the power consumption of the previous one and does more (time taken for this step forward just 2 years) ROI less than 12 months with UK Consumer Electricity prices Helped my Brother, who lives on the shoulder of Ilkley Moor (Baht 'at ), hook up a 500W wind turbine. ROI around 18 months - then it should net him £25 a month that he'll no longer be paying to the power company. He's getting together the bits for a second.... This is how we will make the change Not by talking about it and wringing our hands. Meanwhile the Planet's Climate doesn't know we're here. It''s too busy doing it's own thing .. as ever. Unsettled Science
----------------------------------------http://www.theguardian.com/environment/2014/j...neath-greenland-ice-sheet Scientists were aware of the process but until now did not realise the meltwater was re-freezing into complex formations. “It is not just that you are melting the surface and the surface is just running into the sea. There is a complicated and quite beautiful system running through the ice and you have to understand it top to bottom to understand what it is doing.” A complicated and quite beautiful system running through it That's Planet Earth for you Dave ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by David Autumns at Jun 16, 2014 6:51:16 AM] |

----------------------------------------"The sea is freezing less" everything written from this claim onward must be nonsense Antarctic Sea Ice http://arctic.atmos.uiuc.edu/cryosphere/IMAGES/seaice.anomaly.antarctic.png http://arctic.atmos.uiuc.edu/cryosphere/IMAGES/seaice.recent.antarctic.png http://nsidc.org/data/seaice_index/images/daily_images/S_stddev_timeseries.png I wonder if the South Pole is getting warmer ftp://ftp.ssmi.com/msu/graphics/tlt/plots/rss...ar_land_and_sea_v03_3.png I sometimes wonder why these facts don't fit with BBC's obvious fiction. The [antarctic] sea is freezing less, rarely I would counter have we recorded it freezing more The incongruous BBC Dave ![]() |

Summer Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere
----------------------------------------Everywhere inside the Arctic Circle will not see the Sun set today Here we go again the long run into Winter though the warmest weeks in the NH are still to come peaking around the 8th August The inverse applies to the Southern Hemisphere no Sunrise inside the Antarctic Circle I wonder if this Sun thing has more effect on our climate than a trace gas responsible for feeding all life on Earth (with help from that Sun thing again) Dear Al The Solar input to North Pole will begin to wane from today Best of luck with that claim of yours that it would be ice free by this year Still > than the area of Canada, China or the USA at the moment. ~87 days to minima ~87 days to the truth.
