Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

http://ecocentric.blogs.time.com/2012/05/10/g...y-new-math/#ixzz1uVLVh2gu

classic case of head in a bucket or not seeing the wood for the trees

"Hansen [of NASA's GISS] says the heat wave that struck Texas and Oklahoma last summer and the Moscow heat wave of 2010 (which caused 11,000 deaths in the city) are examples of three-sigma anomalies. In a paper published last year in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Stefan Rahmstorf and Dim Coumou of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, in Germany, wrote that it was 80 percent probable that the Moscow heat wave had been caused by global warming.

“These three-sigma anomalies,” Hansen says, “we can now say are due to global warming.” But what about the extreme cold snaps climate-change deniers keep pointing to? Even with global warming, Hansen told Time.com in an email, there “is still a broad bell curve. In fact, it has become broader, which means there will still be times when a season is colder than average. When that happens [people] should not say, ‘What happened to global warming?’ It will still be there — they are just looking at natural variability.”

herein lies the problem. When it's warmer it is claimed to be Man Made when it is colder it is attributed to Natural Variability

Me I don't need to deny anything

For absolute certainty I know that the first 4 months of this year were warmer than last year. What I wouldn't do is extrapolate those 4 months into an inexorable rise and claim it will bring about our all too imminent doom.

That would be stupid much like the claims around 2007 that the Arctic Sea Ice was in inexorable death spiral of decline....

Dave calm your nerves smile These people are criminal and should be in the hokey wink Penn State 'Climate Ethics' Prof. Donald Brown says skeptics are guilty of a 'new crime against humanity' for delaying action on global warming -- 'It is really evil stuff. It is nasty'
Brown attacks Climate Depot for posting his email: [Climate Depot] puts my picture and my personal email and within 48 hours you get hundreds of really nasty [emails], some of them are up here, death threats, hate mail'
Saturday, May 12, 2012By Marc Morano – Climate Depot "Climate Ethics" Prof. Donald Brown of Penn State University declared that skeptics may be guilty of a “new crime against humanity” for causing a 25 year delay in acting to stop climate change.
Brown, who appeared alongside Climategate professor Michael Mann at a Penn State forum on April 30, 2012, slammed what he termed the “disinformation campaign.”
Watch Video of Brown and Mann here. (Brown's comments on Climate Depot begin around 23:00 and his “new crimes against humanity” remark are around 24:50 mark – H/T to Tom Nelson)
Brown also unloaded on Climate Depot for posting his email address (Dab57@psu.edu) and he lamented the tactics and the impact of climate skeptics. http://www.climatedepot.com/a/15861/Penn-Stat...Depot+%28Climate+Depot%29 by the way Happy Mothers Day to all smile smile Hug a tree today

I'll hug a tree

As I was saying in the team thread there are 2 giant redwoods where I am living at the mo. Watching the squirrels run around them is enough to restore sanity to my day.

If you would like to see something that is alright with the world

Maybe it wasn't the patent, maybe the hose pipe ban ... on account of the drought

Oh my aching sides

They could certainly do without another big one any time soon Gerald.

Keeping with the Japanese theme

Roll on tomorrow. Our favourite graph could soon resume.

Just realised tomorrow is today that's 1:39am Japanese time
