What happened to the talk that blamed the sun for everything. Evidently, since the naysayers cannot prove that the Sun is at fault, they have moved on to blaming the Moon. Thank goodness that we have an infinite number of stars and planets, otherwise there would be nothing to blame. Stay tuned for the new personal opinion game: Plant of the Month Responsible for Causing Unexpected Weather. |

Should I dig out the relevant message from the 7,336 posts long missing tree-huggers thread when I wrote back to marysduby on the same moon question... got a fully indexed copy with hot links on PDF? The moon is falling away at the rate of a couple of centimeters per annum.

6 more weeks of Winter
----------------------------------------It's Official http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/8493691.stm Hey we might as well have our predictions given by a Groundhog ![]() Our Met Office has 2010 predicted as the warmest on record ![]() Sorry MD but that Moon of ours is receding http://eclipse.gsfc.nasa.gov/SEhelp/ApolloLaser.html Each year it gets 3.8cm further away but....given that on average it is 384,399 km from Earth's centre to the Moon's centre I'm not going to lose any sleep over it (that's an even lower percentage than that CO2 concentration ![]() Doesn't look like Mankind will be able to get back there any time soon after the recent announcement. Our progress is now fully in reverse. We don't have supersonic passenger transport either (yet another topical news item) So there you go the Groundhog says it's going to continue cold. No surprise there Dave ![]() |

The moon is falling away at the rate of a couple of centimeters per annum. The fact is not disputed, but scientific research has thereby proven what impact on Global Warming?????????????????? |

The moon is falling away at the rate of a couple of centimeters per annum. The fact is not disputed, but scientific research has thereby proven what impact on Global Warming??????????????????It's the concept of "let's throw in nonsense, any nonsense and distraction, long as we avoid the facts that GW is man made". Kind of pre-occupational therapy the ain't true-ists are perpetually committing in. Dr. Roy's AMSU sat reports the hottest January on record... and today we share this from a blogger that is deeply fed up with what he refers to as [fill in the blanks] How do we battle it? We point out the flaws; it's not the denialists, it's the lurkers who are the target. Sometimes I wonder if itâs worth it, but the poster in question has an interesting insight: the average person doesn't necessarily think like a scientist and has a hard time understanding why it is that he or she is still shoveling snow in the warmest decade since the beginning of the instrument record. I do have kids and a grandchild and at least I''ll be able to point out that some of us tried to send a warning signal.

btw Weather is not Climate Climate is average weather in a particular location Just thought I would save you the trouble Eso ;-) Oh and the point... Our real life experience is at the extreme opposite end to that predicted by the CO2 hypothesis. But not one taking into account the changes observed in solar output Your "real life experience" is sticking your head out the window and telling us it's snowing: ** **edited for intolerance** tkh [Edit 1 times, last edit by TKH at Feb 3, 2010 2:29:57 PM] |
