Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

6 more weeks of Winter

It's Official

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/8493691.stm

Hey we might as well have our predictions given by a Groundhog biggrin

Our Met Office has 2010 predicted as the warmest on record laughing

Sorry MD but that Moon of ours is receding http://eclipse.gsfc.nasa.gov/SEhelp/ApolloLaser.html

Each year it gets 3.8cm further away but....given that on average it is 384,399 km from Earth's centre to the Moon's centre I'm not going to lose any sleep over it (that's an even lower percentage than that CO2 concentration wink)

Doesn't look like Mankind will be able to get back there any time soon after the recent announcement. Our progress is now fully in reverse. We don't have supersonic passenger transport either (yet another topical news item)

So there you go the Groundhog says it's going to continue cold.

No surprise there

Dave

Parts of the world can have snow and harsh winters, but still be the 5th warmest year and warmest decade. This is what you have repeatedly failed to understand. Tthe difference between weather and climate: long term trends vs. short-term phenomena. (and global vs. local - you only seem to care about what is happening in your back yard, and if the sea isn't at your doorstep global warming must not exist. P.S. there are many things you will never personally experience/witness with your own eyes that do exist).

"a clear giveaway that the rise to solar maximum has begun"

retsof this is the case

which means

we have just bottomed out of a solar minima

which

is a currently inactive Sun

Hence the copious amounts of snow right now in the 2010 NH Winter

oh....the Solar Observatory's data no good either??

but not where it's needed due to warm weather in Vacouver for the Winter Olympics

VANCOUVER (Reuters) - Olympic organizers, who have endured a record warm January in Vancouver and are bracing themselves for more of the same, are transporting truckloads of snow to a melting mountain to ensure events go ahead.

Your "real life experience" is sticking your head out the window and telling us it's snowing: ***.

C'mon Eso, be nice now. Other people are allowed to have their viewpoints. You cannot force people to agree with you or silence them like the IPCC does here.

Whl., Yes, a video from... the SPPI and the venerable Lord Monckton and down below Joseph D'Aleo and you've get the gist: See SourceWatch http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Science_and_Public_Policy_Institute on who SPPI is.

Looks like pots calling kettles blacker than black, and giant thumb suction.

Dr. Roy Spencer's AMSU Satellite... the sun is DOWN, yet the temps are UP, on a global scale for January when where you are you've got allot of snow:

Maybe the sun called down and told earth to resume warming retroactively, starting about 24 months ago, notwithstanding.

Does physics saying the GHG's drive warming, captures and recaptures heat, change when people with political agenda's or conflicts of interest say so or say so it's not? Just look around and sum up the decay omnipresent... a float of plastic in the central pacific the size bigger than France... plastic particles in every fish you eat, worldwide. Yes We Can (do it and we are!).

Yes, something does need done about pollution Sek, I do not disagree. I'm all for it. Not that I eat fish though, as I have been a vegetarian, since I was 17 years old. Because I dont trust or like the IPCC and the suffering caused wordwide, due to the decisions taken based on their bad advice, it does'nt mean that I want to fill the oceans with plastic , or cut down all of the rainforests.

I dont eat babies either BTW. wink

another WEATHER prognosticator

predicts an early spring in Texas

Snow in the UK is offset by an extended drought in Australia.

Shouldn't we change the title of this thread. idea

Anyway here is an excellent Weather predictor:

I see out of my window, low dark gray clouds, water drops on the window pane, trees not moving.
Prediction is:
-High degree of humidity.
-Temperatures cold but over freezing point as water is liquid.
-wind is calm
-Not raining as no sound of drops hitting the window. But high probability for rain. biggrin

Prediction for tomorrow:
I will again look through the window. Promised laughing

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

How do we battle it? We point out the flaws; it'€™s not the denialists, it'€™s the lurkers who are the target. Sometimes I wonder if it’s worth it, but the poster in question has an interesting insight: the average person doesn't necessarily think like a scientist and has a hard time understanding why it is that he or she is still shoveling snow in the warmest decade since the beginning of the instrument record.

I do have kids and a grandchild and at least I''ll be able to point out that some of us tried to send a warning signal.
An acquaintance here moved from Wisconsin in the northern U.S. to Texas in the southern U.S. He put his snow shovel on the front porch from previous habit and somebody passing by asked him what it was. Based on that answer he decided to stay here.

Stay away from bean sprouts, alfalfa sprouts, baby corn and new potatoes --- baby plants.

Even today, most apartment colonies here do not participate in recycling because they don't want to pay the expense of large containers separate from the trash. Rural recycling is also a problem, due to the large transportation distances involved and low population density.

The recycling programs here take international plastic symbols 1 through 7. We save the aluminum cans separately, because we can take those to a recycling center separately every now and then and get money for them.

That's a good start, but you need to be more scientific and get yourself one of these weather rocks: tongue

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weather_Rock

* If rock is wet, it is raining.
* If rock is green, it rained a while ago.
* If rock is white, it is snowing.
* If rock is shaking, there is an earthquake.
* If rock is dry, the weather is fair.
* If rock is swinging, it's windy.
* If rock is warm, the sun is out.
* If rock is not visible, it's dark outside.
* If rock is under water, there is a flood.
* If rock is gone, there is a tornado (Run!!)

and a network of global weather rock stations
