Here's another attempt. This one has a 20" monitor, a blazing fast quad core, GTX 260 Core 216 in SLI mode grahipcs (disable for crunching), a HIGH AIR FLOW case, Thermaltake 750 watt PS, a hardcore heatsink, 5.1 surround sound stereo speakers (I HAVE THEM, THEY'RE GREAT), 4 gigs ram 1066, and 1TB of storage. BOOM! <snip (rjt)> Processor ( [=== Quad Core ===] Intel Core 2 Quad Processor Q9400 (4x 2.66GHz/6MB L2 Cache/1333FSB) ) <snip (rjt)> Johnathan. I have a core 2 Quad 9550 which is one of the big brothers to the 9400 (read effectively faster than the 9400) see here It has all the right supporting equipment and my I7 920 puts out almost twice the work. I would recommend that if anyone wants a quad for crunching they get an I7. It costs a bit more but the performance is dramatically better. Q9400 is bad.. even for a workstation/crunching CPU. Jeez, I was originally gonna recommmend an oced q6600 given my fantastic experience with it and the low, low price, but I figured that 3.5 ghz would be better... is it reliability? My friend has a barebones with a 9400 in it and he says its great. Q9400 = 2.66 GHz Yeah, and my friend runs his at 3.5ghz oced stable on air cooling. |
