Re: smilesmile Join "MyOnlineTeam" Today - Chapter 34 smilesmile

GPUGrid is down again. sad
I had to shut down one card. It's the one I posted about. Since the electrical "event" it runs very hot (the fan seems to be OK). I lost my nerve when it got to 86C. sad

Have you set your fan to 100% and direct fan control?

Yes, it has always been manually set to 100%. Most of mine are as it helps get the heat out of the case. I may switch it with another in another case. I am a bit "gun shy" about electrical "events" these days. biggrin

Part, and by part, I mean 400%, of myself wants to get some hardcore aftermarket air cooling solution for my GPU. I mean, if an investment of $40 can prolong the life of your card substantially and allow you to overclock it higher, then why not go this route?

Dual slot buddy, dual slot.

It won't necessarily help you overclock higher. tongue

And what's with that email Jonathan?

Re: smilesmile Join "MyOnlineTeam" Today - Chapter 34 smilesmile

I just discovered that the two cards I am getting are 8500GT's crying

I found this 9800 GTX+ on newegg, though:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130376

It's not "too" expensive and cranks in a GPU score almost as good as my GTX 260 according to this chart:

Chris, you might give them a try. I tried the two 8500GT's I had (I've since replaced them) and if you OC them just short of getting the blue screen of death, they usually return the result just about the deadline. Another little known secret is if you return a result at GPUGrid within 24 hours AFTER the deadline, you usually get credit for it. wink

Okay - perhaps I will try them, then. Thanks!

Chris see my edit above on the 9800GTX.

EDIT: This might be a better card for you and it's a few bucks cheaper. I hope this helps.

Thanks for the info - I just ordered it this morning biggrin

Well, I got two copies of the email just before 1AM today. I can open the file. Curious if this is something Jonathan found somewhere or what? Whatever though.
