Actually, study shows Windows one is best. ;) "Windows" and "best" in the same sentence ... I never thought I would live long enough to hear that.   But horrendously slow. Yep, usually 4+ hours on my main machine. BOINC runs at a snails pace and my weather station just waits ...  |

Actually, study shows Windows one is best. ;) "Windows" and "best" in the same sentence ... I never thought I would live long enough to hear that. But horrendously slow. Yep, usually 4+ hours on my main machine. BOINC runs at a snails pace and my weather station just waits ... The 9800GTX is coming from MA to CA now. It's flown from CA to MA, to CA to MA, to CA to MA, and to me. |

It's flown from CA to MA, to CA to MA, to CA to MA, and to me. You need to change the device name on that machine to Lowell Thomas! |

The 9800GTX is coming from MA to CA now. It's flown from CA to MA, to CA to MA, to CA to MA, and to me . Don't count your chickens before they hatch. After all ... it is the card from H3LL.  I originally paid ~$200 for that card ... and since then it has provided me with endless hours of entertainment from your post and Jonathan's post ...  |

If my computer does not boot in 40 or less seconds I go crazy. Get yourself a solid state disk. Even the lousy ones will give you better boot times than all but the fastest hard disks ... and help to preserve your sanity. back at ya.- D |

Not the best defragger in the world, but defragging is right up there with global warming - over hyped and a bunch of hot air (no pun intended). The best thing an after market defragger does is free up a bunch of space so you can copy large files to it quickly. Also, NTFS isn't bothered much by fragmented files...

Yep, usually 4+ hours on my main machine. BOINC runs at a snails pace and my weather station just waits ... I got my 9800 on Monday from NewEgg. I went to install it in my weather station and guess what? The card I had in there was an AGP  I dug through all my motherboards, and not a PICe board anywhere. Needless to say, I'm upgrading my weather station tomorrow. Glad it only takes a day for orders from newegg to get here... Getting into GPU processing is getting more expensive than I had hoped. But, I will have a fast weather station! LOL
