Welcome gr8Budah! Stop by and leave a comment or 3. Glad to have you aboard! Oh.. and someone said somthing that made me think that they did not know an i7 was a quad. It is; It has Hyper-Threading technology so that it effectively runs more than 4 tasks at a time. Experience has shown me that I need to keep 8 tasks running to ensure that all the processing power is being used up. It has the stock cooler ....and stock everything and runs just fine. Dr. Mike: I hate to sound like a commercial for Dell. I love their computers and have told them many times that I buy their stuff in spite of their "support" (which is a cruel joke at best). Anyway, check THIS out. [commercial]I too am pretty pleased with Dell products. Mine are older, but I have both a Dell Laptop and Desktop (Core2 Duos) that I bought 2 to 2 1/2 years ago that I have had no problems with. Both have run at 100% 24/7 since I got them.[/commercial] That's so funny. I have personally had appallingly bad luck with Dells. I switched to Ibuypower and never looked back. My first two Dells arrived from Dell with issues, Windows crashing after owning the pc for two days, I went through like 6 cd drives. Also, my parents have had mixed experience with Dell laptops, but report that their newest Dell lappie isn't half bad. And my Ibuypower had the fan burnout in the power supply (caught it before it totally crashed). I guess everyone has had their experiences, especially with the number of systems some of us are running! |

I have a core 2 Quad 9550 which is one of the big brothers to the 9400 (read effectively faster than the 9400) see here It has all the right supporting equipment and my I7 920 puts out almost twice the work. I would recommend that if anyone wants a quad for crunching they get an I7. It costs a bit more but the performance is dramatically better. |

Jeez, I was originally gonna recommmend an oced q6600 given my fantastic experience with it and the low, low price, but I figured that 3.5 ghz would be better... is it reliability? My friend has a barebones with a 9400 in it and he says its great. |
