Re: The Help Fight Childhood Cancer Crunching Chart

my only dilemma is whether I should stop at double sapphire or try for 5 years. I wish I knew what the next badge level was going to be.....

I'm stopping at 5 years to be safe. I won't make it to 10 in time.

I'm not sure if I can make it to 5 or not. I'm not even to 4 yet. But I will try!

Re: The Help Fight Childhood Cancer Crunching Chart

I am now at 4 years and 140 days. Need another 225 days to reach the 5 years badge.
I crunch through 92 days per day on this project, so if all goes well the 5 years will be reached by Thursday night.
At that moment I promise I will leave the project to give others a chance to get their badges before the end of the project.
Except if uplinger tells us we have another six months then I will give a try for the 10 year badge.
uplinger we miss you. Can you enlighten us about were we are.

Re: The Help Fight Childhood Cancer Crunching Chart

This sucks, suddenly this project is almost finished when 7 days ago it was showing nearly 4 months to completion? Won't even get an emerald badge now whereas was planning on a nice sapphire in a couple of months. Hey ho, it's not all about badges, but I do hate to be stuck just short of the next badge! (This has happened to me 3 or 4 times now)

I agree biggrin If I'm very lucky I'll make it to my first sapphire badge... if not, it would have been worth the try wink

Yeah I thought something was odd with the chart. I swear it was closer to August 2010. Now it is just past April? Can anyone fill me/us in on this? shock

Re: The Help Fight Childhood Cancer Crunching Chart

Hey, I do sympathise with all those who may/may not (just) reach their next badge level, although it has to be said, it's been known about for quite some time that HFCC was the next due to finish after NRftW.

Sek does a fantastic job at creating/maintaining these charts, and he's always said that they're only estimates (i.e., what with NRftW finishing, the slow start of DDDT2 and the constant increase in power of WCG), timescales are always likely to come in.

As there's been no announcement from the Techs as to "the end is nigh", we can assume that there's at least 1 month of work left to process, and thus, those with powerful computers should already be well on their way to achieving their next badge level. If not, why not? - weren't you watching the estimated end date?

Finally, good luck to all those who are chasing their next badge level. I, for one, won't be joining in the chase, as I realise that with my single, dual-core machine, anything above Gold is a true bonus - and certainly a step too far this close to the end.

Edit : Uplinger has now announced the end game is fast approaching - here : HFCC 30 days left of new work
