Re: Re:

What about this device ??? It was all the rage at one time every other car had one . Mind you in the late fifties all cars in UK were built like tanks big slab pushing air, windscreens only just starting to slope these might have worked if placed correctly in a spot that the aerodynamics specialist had worked out most folks have an idea about airflows nowadays having watched tech stuff for dimbos on the telly, smoke chambers swirl patterns and so on the pkt states aerodynamically designed but as the cars that might receive it were all diverse shapes Ford Prefects or Poplars Vauxhaul wyverns or Cresta's And they must have had to be moving for the air flow to be deflecting bugs

At t'other end of the vehicle we had the PECO exhaust extractor a bolt on alloy lump with I think some sort of venturi system to pull the gasses thru the system when the car was moving
I think this was going to give us better fuel consumption
Thinking about it now to get the extraction effect the peco had to be in a clean air flow not just tacked on to the end of the exhaust system with a jubilee clip The underside of the car in those days was all bits hanging underneath.
it perhaps a good thing it wasn't too effective as all of our petrol tanks would have been overflowing
This is the Talbot parked on Morecambe prom a couple of years ago

Did you ride a motorcycle in your Yoof ?
how did you get on in the rain ??
I bet you didnt wear one of these biggrin

Weird or what
Even weirder was an alloy goggle with three slits in it no glass or perspex just slits ..........it worked tho

Re: Re:

These are they,
dont work for speccy four eyes tho crying

I also used gas goggles though they were pretty flimsy
MkV111 ex Raf were the best
I think most of my early motorcycling was done wearing government surplus from "Headquarters & General Supplies". other firms Proops and KR Whiston of new mills in Stockport had tons of ex MOD kit from huge rolls of photographic paper 100 yard lengths of 35mm film Even Air craft reccy cameras with huge lenses and motor drives. BIG heavy Radio equipment. They were a good source of almost any thing at good prices Coal scuttles to Polish officers riding boots( still got two pairs of those )

Re: Re:

Evening all

I think I just got a pair of goggles from the local junk shop when I started on my 1928 Calthorpe and these lasted the time of the 1938 500cc BSA combination before I moved on to 4 wheels.
Very happy days.
