By George shes Got It !! I really think shes got it !!!
---------------------------------------- *Thats right Luv' The Lunnon 'ackney cab Driver Has to undergo a strict training schedule Known as the Knowledge You will often see blokes n gals on small Mopeds or scooters with Clip boards on the handlebars learning the knowledge . (Up and down the city road in and out of the Eagle) (but that's another tale) When you apply to become a taxi driver you get the blue book that tells you what you need to do to get the coveted licence The examination system consists of: A basic written exam A series of one-to-one interviews, called appearances. In these, you will be given the start and finish points of imaginary taxi journeys. You will have to describe the shortest route between them You will also have to take a separate, practical taxi driving test. http://www.tfl.gov.uk/businessandpartners/taxisandprivatehire/1402.aspx ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ The star shape of the prison is I think a classic role model, central control area with views down the legs or wings I noted in the old wood cut of the Surrey correctional institution there was a circle of prisoners "walking the line " PS A dog walks into a Telegraph office and the operator asks him what he wishes to say. "Woof Woof Woof Woof, Woof Woof, Woof Woof Woof." The operator tells him that he has only used nine words and can have a tenth 'Woof' for the same price. "But that would make absolutely no sense", says the dog. * With apologies to GBShaw ---------------------------------------- [Edit 5 times, last edit by densnaps at Jul 7, 2011 6:27:24 PM] |

Eliza Doolittle beams with pride, Mr. Higgins, Sir!
"Walking the line"? Johnny Cash sings about it - Walk the Line but what does it really mean? - chained to the one in front and in back? Woof #10 - the dog is absolutely right - makes no sense at all ![]() |

Evening all
It bucketed down all morning when I had to go out and get my usual prescriptions made up so I was glad that I had opted out of the pensioners association country walk. There's sunshine now but not much warmer. |

Walking the Line
----------------------------------------I had always thought it was quite literally walking a defined Line In a prison exercise yard. Not straying from it in any way for the allotted time of your exercise . Broader meaning; keeping on the straight and narrow, toeing the line, not stepping over the line and so on all I think relating to the Prison walk. Thats Prison walk not Pensioners walk so Ivan would be quite safe on such a walk ![]() ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by densnaps at Jul 7, 2011 7:20:19 PM] |
