Would be easier to post for food, tho I think, slowly it seeped in .... shopping = merling because Merle is a shopper, but Merle could be a pleasure shopper as well as a chore shopper, and she could be shopping more than the male segment, still the male segment shops at hardware stores and the internet for ice machines, cat high-rises and such STOP the verbosity! Merling means shopping .. |

STOP the verbosity! Merling means shopping .. That is my understanding of 'merling' and originates from long past when I used to announce to "the boys" that I was going shopping! You may have noticed that I do not announce it now (partly because I don't go merling nearly so often), and when I do it is usually only for food. Not eating at the moment (not very well - but gradually feeling better than I did this morning.) Alter ...............! (That's another one for you to work out! ) |

Oh, Scribe already let me in on the 'alter' one earlier today as I could only find out the "c u" part, Merle- somehow I feel you're about to tolerate me blabbermouthing in your parlour now - if this cosy mood continues - I just might launch a test balloon in a couple of months with a slip hanging from it asking if I may invite myself to your annual picnic where you manage to get all of London to dress up and fly the flag ... Why don't you eat, Merle? |

Does anyone know what 'Merle' means? It is a french word, and means a 'blackbird'!!
There you go, another item of totally superfluous knowledge! ![]() |

I wondered for a long time, because I had never seen or heard your name before.
Blackbird. That's a very pretty name. Do you know what made your parents choose that? The blackbird's song is pretty. I read, that it has no tune of it's own but picks up bits and pieces everywhere so each bird has it's own tune - but always with that melancholy ring to it .... Your knowledge is neither more nor less supefluous than this of the blackbird's song ... |

Why don't you eat, Merle?Because I have felt really "lousy" today - don't know what it is, some sort of bug I expect. I managed to crawl out of bed, and 'slobbed' out all day on the settee watching the usual rubbish on the 'box' (that is the TV), and I am planning on an early night in the hopes that tomorrow I shall feel better. Alter ................xxx (Find out what "Alter" means from one of the 'chaps'!) |

PS: When I was born, there was a very famous film star called Merle Oberon, and I think I was named after her. I have only met one other Merle in my entire life, and that was a 'prefect' at my school.
----------------------------------------This is proof that I am not well - I am repeating myself now!! That's all, I must go and lie down again! ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Jul 12, 2011 8:48:40 PM] |

Hope you'll see this tomorrow if you have already gone to bed.
----------------------------------------I'm not having the best of days either - my brain idles due to a persistent cold. It doesn't make your name worse that you share it with Merle Oberon - she was in "The Scarlet Pimpernel" - I saw that one as a young schoolgirl but my interest in film stars was not developed enough at the time for me to retain that knowledge. I remember liking the film - elegantly played with a good plot - tho. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Jul 12, 2011 9:01:04 PM] |
