Re: THE EDWARDIANS - WHY NOT JOIN US AS THE QUEST CONTINUES -

Morning all
warming up after very chilly night -9c
now just above freezing +1c
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
The Boiler problem now resolved by me, there is a condensate line coming away from the boiler to an outside drain that had become frozen
Speaking to a plumber at work he told me to check it and free up and it worked
Annoying thing was I had rang the British gas help line and paid £90.00 for call out Giving my Mobile number
They turned up without ringing me so its a missed call . Inquiry as to when they could come again by the missus, They gave Saturday as next available day sad Having fixed the defect this morning . I have been trying to cancel the call out retrieve my cost and complain as to why the helpful chap we see on the TV didn't turn up or the advisor give me things that I could check .
So far this morning I have tried 4 times, to get through the press 1 if you want a pedicure or 10 giving your inside leg measurement
when I got to the option I wanted it connected to an engaged line or gave message that this number did not receive incoming calls .
>>>>>>>>>
All this chilly snowy weather has bought out the kids of all ages
on sledges .True to form the society for prevention of accidents has come out with guide lines
One that caught my eye apart from wear warm gear and protective head wear .

Was to walk up the hill before taking off on your toboggan
it seemed to me that was the only way to slide down a hill get to top first ( I think they mean check it out first Look before you leap ?) biggrin
How on earth did we manage before all this Advice was available

Re: THE EDWARDIANS - WHY NOT JOIN US AS THE QUEST CONTINUES -

Evening all

Managed my weekly walk to the supermarket but it was pretty dodgy in parts. I saw a couple of people go A over T but got up without apparent damage.
I had one dodgy moment when I had to put a hand out to a fence to stop a bounce on the pavement but had just a scratch with no other apparent damage. Now, however, after using the mouse for an hour, I find that my wrist is sprained and I need to rest it.

Rang Virgin, they were also hit by staff not getting in and so it was about half an hour before I actually got to speak to someone. Then, however, it was a charming woman who accepted my problem and said a new handset would be delivered tomorrow and the courier would take the defective on to return it. I can't complain about that even if more weather creates a delay.

Stay in the warm for the weekend if you can.

Just another day living the fantasy. Good day here for a snowman, just no snow. Anxiously waiting for Spring, don't much like the rain though.

Re: THE EDWARDIANS - WHY NOT JOIN US AS THE QUEST CONTINUES -

Well, nothing has changed here, other than it is even colder than it was! sad No-one has succeeded in getting their car out, even the ones who have managed to find their car from under the snow! I know exactly where mine is, but can't get to it! Certainly, it is a big lesson in patience and I never did have a huge supply of that! Only consolation is that we are all in the same boat here.

Re: THE EDWARDIANS - WHY NOT JOIN US AS THE QUEST CONTINUES -

Evening all

A slight fluttering of the white stuff but mostly just cold, cold, cold.
They phone me sometimes offering good prices for cavity wall insulation when I have to reply that in 1845 there was no such thing.

The loft's OK but the conservation area conditions (quite rightly) require four pane sash windows and to replace the single glazed of those really does cost an arm and a leg, plastic is forbidden.

Virgin brilliantly delivered a new handset at eight this morning. The downside is I still can't get it to accept the SIM that I have. So the Saga continues; livens up these dark and cold days!

Re: THE EDWARDIANS - WHY NOT JOIN US AS THE QUEST CONTINUES -

Good Morning smile much, much, warmer up to 36f now biggrin

we have cloud cover but it doesn't look Snow laden.
>>>>>>>>>>>
About Your cavity wall callers Ivan .I find it hard to work out the logic,If a cavity in a wall is bad from insulation point of view ,How does Double glazing improve things Triple glazing is used in Scandinavia
with large air gaps.I can see how keeping the cold air separated from your expensively heated rooms is a sound idea.
The wall cavity gives the air gap so why fill it up .
It doesn't cost any thing in this area for pensioners. A loose fibre fill is blown in . Watching some of these TV shows such as Grand designs
New build's employ cavity wall filled as a sandwich with a high Tog filling, the interior wall thermal blocks & sheep wool in the loft .You can of course retro fit interior thermal insulation without destroying the integrity of the old cavity Straw bales are great but they dont arf make the room small
