Oh dear, I am definitely snowed in! Wanted to post 2 birthday cards I have had here awaiting the dates, but my worst fears have been realised. No way I could get the car out anyway, (can't actually see it under the snow), but having watched someone else try to get their car out (to no avail) I realise there is not a hope!
 Would normally walk, but it is a complete no-go! Under this pile of snow it is sheer ice. So I guess all I can do is ring my friends to apologise!  I am also going to run out of milk at this rate as well.Sorry, Good Morning everyone!!  |

G-g-good m-m-m-morning, all,
Sun's out but no sign of a thaw. Mr. Snowman is holding his head to one side - guess he misses his scarf, which is lying on top of the snowdrift. I was looking forward to having a fried egg after the Tesco delivery and had to have coffee and toast while waiting, rather than risking a hypo attack. That was the last of our bread. Sue (our home help) came by taxi, then Tesco's rang to say today's delivery was cancelled, so we now have no fresh food, other than a few oranges. Luckily, our stocks of tinned food are holding out, so we can live on baked beans, spaghetti and cereals with processed milk Cheers, everybody, Harold. |

Morning all
----------------------------------------Much the same weather as the rest of UK I'm in work at moment. Was first in at about 0800. spent all morning fielding telephone cancelations . Real nice sunshine but temp aboput -4c keeping the frozen bits frozen. Hope the bread man soon appears Harold And Merles cow starts producing  |

----------------------------------------By midday, Meals on Wheels had not arrived, so Ruth slithered off to the corner shop accompaniied by Emily and brought back a pair of express cuisine Egg Salad sandwiches, a sliced loaf and half a dozen eggs. I made soup out of sachets, and took the empty mugs to the kitchen. The doorbell rang and Emily went to answer it. There on the ramp was a shivering volunteer from the soup kitchen with two main courses, a pair of afters, an insulated container of soup, a challah and a pint o' super Kosher milk. Famine ended! Ruth also has a bottle of "bubbly," and it is likely to be opened this evening to toast Evelyn's great-neice and her bridegroom, far away in Upper Galilee ! Evening all
No more white stuff here but it remains just under zero so the icy pavements are a hazard. The roads themselves are OK because there was enough traffic yesterday to clear most of the actual used parts even if the parked cars still have their white hats on. I got a few bits and pieces from the local SPAR mainly for the sake of the birds who rely on the feeder and the grease balls. My new mobile from Virgin won't accept either of 2 SIM cards that I have and a techie was supposed to ring me today but I guess like many set ups they've been a tad short of staff today. It's not urgent for me so I'll give them a ring tomorrow. I feel it must have just been a faulty one off the Chinese production line. I always double up with e-cards Merle but, of course, they will understand. These days I don't particularly want to be reminded of my birthday. |

Very cold and loads of Snow still. so didn't venture out. Doctor called and sent my pills via a lady from the village who happened to get to the surgery, so am Ok again for a few days until the food starts to run out, at least I still have plenty of oil to keep warm.
I hope you kind folk in the south will begin to realise what life is like in the North! We did send you some of our snow! Pleased that the food arived Harold! |

Well my car has vanished under the snow, and I wanted to post a couple of cards so I braved it! To get out of the carpark here I was up over my knees in snow, (and I don't have any boots - must have thrown them out when I moved)! All the pavements were covered with compacted snow and ice. Very scary! (And yes I am talking about 'darn sarf'). Very, very few cars on the road and all of them crawling along very slowly.
Got to tackle it again tomorrow as the Doctor has demanded me to go and see him about my medication! So another walk as it looks like being at least another week before I can use the car, ie when someone clears the car park!. Nite nite, don't let the bed bugs bite!! |

Sorry to hear all the rest of you have got it as badly as you have.
Down here, just a light dusting of the white stuff. However that has melted and is lethal sheet ice on the side roads, although once you get out onto the main roads, they at least are gritted and traffic is moving quite freely (better than normal in fact since schools are closed, so less people on school runs). The main problem is the cold, it got up as high as minus 3 today (brrrrr!) not sure how low it is overnight, but the lethal sheet ice will remain for a good while yet. Keep safe and warm everyone! |
