I hope it's coming your way Merle. I don't like to think of you starving and I can't help much with my walk tomorrow to Sainsbury's.

Re: THE EDWARDIANS - WHY NOT JOIN US AS THE QUEST CONTINUES -

Yes I have watched TY and I am suffering very much about the quake in Haiti!!

More than 100.000 thousands is the death toll until now, nobody really knows how many more ...

This is truly epic in scale of suffering and our hearts and prayers go out to them all; Nations have rallied around to give aid and support and are doing the best they can for them, but let us remind ourselves that as humans we need to share our misfortunes no matter how trivial; with one another in order to give ourselves comfort; this is not a selfish act but a basic human need.

May God give comfort and peace to those suffering in Haiti
and give all humanity comfort and guidance that we as one world can help all those who suffer throughout the world.
Amen.

Maintenance on Sunday Jan 17 2010 starting at 2:00 UTC

We will be applying the latest fixpack for DB2 to our database server on Jan 17th. During this time the forums and website will not be available. The BOINC clients will be able to upload and download work.

The estimated duration for this work is five hours. We will update this post when the work is complete.

biggrin Re: THE EDWARDIANS - WHY NOT JOIN US AS THE QUEST CONTINUES -

Goodmorning one and all :) Happy New Year. smile I have been given my marching orders from Facebook to here laughing biggrin . We are still waiting for our Summer to begin. We have had rain all week. Today this is some sunlight so it will washing, washing and more of same. It was lovely to catch up with Ted on Facebook. Does anyone else use it?
Sorry to those who are surviving under a tonne of snow :( if its any comfort, our petrol prices have gone up twice in the past fortnight because of it. I don't think there are many people not in one sort of a pickle or other.
My Brother in law and his partner are up in Napier on holiday visiting his Mum. They are from London and are due to go back on the 17th. They are wondering what they will be going home to.
Although I am not here much I do still crunch away so I am always around in one way or another.
I do wish my Harddrive would stop all the whining it does when its crunching.. its driving me nearly around the bend. wink

Prayers for all in Haiti are being said here. Our Government has pledged aide ( as it always does)

Take care all
Warm regards Katy

W E T good morning, temps are way up to 37f biggrin 15/20 mph wind gusts
The rain should also warm up the ground that has been frozen for nearly a month.

Nice to see you Kate .finding time to post between washing and so on
while we are glad to see the rain today we would be even more pleased if it only lasted a couple of days breaking into early spring sunshine (some hopes).

Re: THE EDWARDIANS - WHY NOT JOIN US AS THE QUEST CONTINUES -

Yes Den, I was reading a little 'freebie' local newspaper last night and saw just the place to get rid of my fridge/freezer and what's more they come and collect it, so that is one thing sorted!

The other problem, namely this snow is still here and showing no symptoms whatsoever yet of melting, so I am not going to look out of the windows anymore!! Here endeth my final moan!! devilish

PS: No sign yet of the rain that was going to wash away the snow!crying

Re: THE EDWARDIANS - WHY NOT JOIN US AS THE QUEST CONTINUES -

Evening all

By recent standards it's been mild here today so my shopping walk was trouble free with just odd patches of snow left. I think there's some rain forecast for tomorrow so perhaps you'll get some of that Merle.

I thought suppliers were now obliged to take old electrical devices when supplying new ones. When I got a new washing machine about eighteen months ago they certainly did. I suspect, however, you have to remind them as part of the order otherwise they just forget about it.

In any event, I'm pretty lucky here in that the council allows three such collections each year free of charge so when I needed to dispose of a broken television and an old sofa, one phone call sorted it.

If the gear is usable there is always freecycle. Someone always seems in need of what ever one might think as rubbish.
