I don't recall any named after stars from the silver screen my mum, born in 1953 was named Ingrid after Ingrid Bergman :) (and she considers herself really lucky since the other choice was Barbara after some other actress my grandfather liked, I forget her name I must add though that both Ingrid and Barbara were considered normal names in Belgium at the time (and still are) but we had a huge influx of English names after both world wars off for a long bike rijd Hi! Evy, Was your gaffer a Barbara Stanwick fan? I was; hated Bette Davis, however; mother loved them both; called my baby sister "Barbara Sheila." My brother and I called her "Barbara" when she was good and "Sheila" the rest of the time. She hated to be the latter, but loved the former. JP, good to have you back, but take care now - don't be a candidate for apoplexy HD |

Evening all
My Dad was unable to say how my first name was decided. After returning from 5 years in Canada, getting married and doing whatever was necessary to earn a crust during the real depression I (probably a mistake) was born. All the rest of our family had good British names and at that time he voted conservative so the mystery remains. As a Freddie, I keep his name as my second one and rather liked it during my time in Germany when some official decided that it was part of my real name and every official thing came as Ivan-Frederick. That always sounded quite impressive. Now I'm just having a glass of fizz to celebrate getting the Ashes back. |
