Thanks Barney, just happy to be part of the bigger team (WTG) helping to make a difference in the world of genetic diseases.

I know. ;) Ony behalf of TW, I would like to thank Team MyOnlineTeam for being such good targets.

Let me know if anyone on a lower resolution thinks that 900px is too wide. :P I hate office, so I ran this through gnumeric.

Re: Tribalwarre so polite here -

I find it interesting to compare the patterns (factoring out the "noise" that all of the teams appear to share, ie major spikes/drops).

For MOT, it's got the kinds of fluctuations that you'd expect from normal activity, but overall it's a very healthy signal. Almost perfectly linear, which is what you would expect (as the recruiting process would tend to add power linearly).

For TribalWar . . . . ye Gods.

It's sickly and bizarre. It really captures our essence, I think -- the kid with lots of potential who never paid enough attention in class. A huge pool of people who signed up because there was a thread about it, and then forgot about it . . .

I think that the response since we

1) Broke into the top 10, and
2) A few days later, started our first "Hey, let's hate MyOnlineTeam!" thread (well, I did *blush*)

has been just phenomenal. Actually -- the "Whoa [WCG] (learn to hate our competitors)" thread was posted at 3am on 4/5, and we were at 160k or so, around our old high average. The thread was bumped repeatedly throughout the day. That night we were barely up, but the next 3 days straight saw us climb from 160k to almost 200k in one schadenfreude-fueled spurt!

But our pattern is, thus far, that of intense spikes and then falloff -- these almost always correspond with a thread or a bump of a thread about the World Community Grid on the forums.

Re: Tribalwar

What happened to the other thread?

If nothing else it was worth reading Mr_Luc's responses... Intelligent AND funny, it was a classic and now it's gone!
