The file size will vary depending on how many Units of Data (UoD) can be completed in those 8 hours, so in fact a bandwidth indication and rate of compression is whats probably going into the matrix.
----------------------------------------As with a few other projects I'm curious as to how each job gets it's 'seeds assigned, so they are least duplicated, yet are all captured. After all it's not predetermined who gets what and at what quantity of UoD they come back. knreed talked of monitoring the quantities and possible needed tweaking.... init 19, but will we need 20 or 18 at X achieved successful returns to get the gene complete, no single seed gap.

@BobCat13,
----------------------------------------this is what you get with a hacked file size in the client state: 14/05/2008 14:04:57|World Community Grid|[checkpoint_debug] result R00000_96cc674ec1a93cc07869556bede54b19_11_14 checkpointed 14/05/2008 14:05:28|World Community Grid|[error] Error on file upload: invalid signature 14/05/2008 14:05:28|World Community Grid|Giving up on upload of R00000_71720ed89af7d384d15b70da1beae676_14_12_0: permanent upload error 14/05/2008 14:05:33|World Community Grid|Sending scheduler request: To report completed tasks. This is off my test box, so whoever, a still not recommended action!

The new 6.13 version is out. Got some on my vista host and the footprint is smallll.
----------------------------------------Not heard of any being incompatible with the results of 6.12, so until then I'll keep the last ones running through. [Added: Will post Process Explorer performance comparison view after running them for a while.... maybe someone will beat me to it :D]

Me too! oh wait - I manage the db. Guess I need to go do some inserts/updates then. This will be done in the morning (after the mid-day UTC stats update). So you will see the stats appear after the EOD stats tomorrow. We are sorry for the lose of data and members computer time due to this issue. Fortunately, this issue is resolved. Additionally, the early data on the new version of the application indicates it is running much better. Going forward this should be a very appealing and enjoyable project for everyone to run. Thanks Kevin ![]() ![]() Thanks Kevin ... very much appreciated! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

The credit has been awarded. Please read: https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/...ad=20270&lastpage=yes
You will see the stats on the website after the next stats run later today. |

The new 6.13 version is out. Got some on my vista host and the footprint is smallll. I have 4 running in XP, with one about to end with 24,264 kB for Max Memory and the smallest at 11,608 kB after 1 hour and 23 minutes! This project should become the preferred one for small and/or slow machines: 1. Very small RAM requirement 2. Fixed CPU duration whatever the speed of the processor 3. Very frequent checkpoints. 4. 10-day deadline requires less than one hour of CPU time per day. Edit: 24 MB was not for the job about to complete. It is difficult to see who is what in Task Manager since they have all the same name and sometimes the total CPU time is reset. Therefore - the job that completed was less than 24 MB (19 MB if i remember correctly) although it had many results (result file was about 1.6 MB) - the job at 24 MB has still 20 % to run and is now at 25,120 kB for Peak Mem Usage. Cheers. Jean. ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by JmBoullier at May 14, 2008 2:26:28 PM] |

This thread is getting extremely long, sorry if this has ben said before:
first: it's a great screensaver!! but if you click "show graphics", it opens the screensaver plus a cmd window, minor bug, but it should be solved (very low priority) my setup: vista x64 boinc 6.2.1 |

BOINC 6.2 is not yet supported. It still has numerous issues, including (I suspect) the one you report here.
BOINC 6 is BETA. |

Hi,
----------------------------------------It's actually a confirmed bug not exlcusive to RICE but all sciences have this due the alpha code of BOINC 6.... at some point in time when 6 will be going into production (Q3-08 is optimistically planned) and the BOINC 6 APIs used to compile the sciences are updated, will it disappear.... But, is it not onederful that now you can see graphics even with a service(save) install :D The thread is short in comparison to others.... things will spread out once the project has got it's footing. For me it's very convenient to go up and down rather than having to skip multiple threads and bet you, we have multiple threads going with the identical problem anytime anything is new.

This is off my test box, so whoever, a still not recommended action! Yes, I found out. The first 5 that ran after manual editing reported correctly, but the next 4 received the error you are showing. I have 4 more that are almost finished so I will let them complete and see what happens. The other 24 were aborted prior to start. Well, I was curious to see if it would work and I got my answer. It wasn't the answer I was hoping for, but now I know. And I agree with Sekerob, if you don't know exactly what you are doing editing the file, don't do it. |
