I've had 15 error so far, 13 have run the full 8 hours. Will I get credit for the 13 that ran for 8 hours? ![]() Yes you will get credit as long as they validate, and I imagine they will. We have seen one batch validate so far, we are awaiting more batches to have a quorum which may start soon. -Uplinger Uplinger, I think he's saying that they have completed succesfully but due to the data upload size problem they have been shown as Error in the results status (as have around 30+ of mine ![]() In these circumstances where we are not at fault, it was down to the data sizing, and they have sucessfully completed the 8 hours - are we likely to see a retrospective grant of credit, as I would imagine many of us have suffered through no fault of our own? yes, what Addywebb said. I agree ... ![]() Me too! oh wait - I manage the db. Guess I need to go do some inserts/updates then. This will be done in the morning (after the mid-day UTC stats update). So you will see the stats appear after the EOD stats tomorrow. We are sorry for the lose of data and members computer time due to this issue. Fortunately, this issue is resolved. Additionally, the early data on the new version of the application indicates it is running much better. Going forward this should be a very appealing and enjoyable project for everyone to run. OK -- I got one of these WUs tonight.
I was watching the graph of what appears to be the energy levels, and it bottomed out near the end of the screen (the lower edge of the y axis was about +360). Is it supposed to do that, and does that mean it wasn't looking for lower values during that time period (it actually drew a straight line across the x-axis at this point)? All the other energy level graphs I watched for this project dynamically adjusted. |

should your 'credits' issues be in a technical thread? maybe you should open a new one.

Hello littlepeaks,
If you read the FAQs, it says that the graph is showing the difference in energy between known structures and the computed structures. It sounds as though you replicated a known structure (or more likely, computed another structure with similar energy levels). After that lucky hit, all your variations had higher energy levels, so the graph did not show them. So how do they pick a 'known' structure to compare with? I don't have a clue. ![]() Lawrence |

Its a issue related to errors in the units that requires a technical solution and not purely a credit issue so it has its rightful place here - however as this thread is getting quite long now, perhaps it would be better for members with any future issues to start a new thread ![]() |

Already 6 Hours into several jobs and they ended up fine after the manual intervention. Speed is not everything. The job complexity determines how many Units of Data are processed in a run, so even on 2.4ghz the limit could be hit, and was here. That possibly would not even have been encountered during a 'full size' beta. (a none IEEE member opinion). Meantime, the raw Result upload sizes were seen to be 1mb per job (BOINC only shows uncompressed sizes), what they were compressed before being send to knreed's db is still an open question ;P In amazing consistency, of all the results, only 3 did not claim exactly 121.8 credit (because they ran all to the near second exact same :) Oh, and I've updated the Abbreviations and Acronym FAQ in the Start Here forum so all can 'search' on what RAPDF, NFS or GPFS means (for the technically inclined).

re exit-with-no-finished-file
Sorry that I overlooked you. I had a medical appointment, then took a nap. You are right to be skeptical. That is a BOINC warning message about something that never seems to be a real problem. I just ignore them when I get them and my results always validate. BOINC does some useless nattering about things like that. Irritating, but in exchange for getting a lot of programming done by other people, you have to put up with their ideas about warning messages. It is a fair trade-off. Lawrence No worries ... I mostly ignore this error also, I just thought it was weird that it's happening only on this sub-project and on only 1 of the four hosts running it. |

The compressed file was something between 0.45 and 0.5 the uncompressed size. |
