Well, down here in darkest Surrey, the snow has now turned into thick ice and apparently we have more snow forecast
  The kids are obviously loving it, but enough is enough for me "It's being so cheerful that keeps me going!" (Can't remember who used to say that - someone else may do). |

Evening all
Most of the snow gone from here and my meat arrived 24 hours late but still fully frozen, so all is well. Rain forecast for tomorrow and if it happens that will be the end of the white stuff. |

Rain forecast for tomorrow and if it happens that will be the end of the white stuff. Oh, I do hope so! It is more dangerous here now than when the snow first fell - all 14 inches of it. Now it has slightly melted, then frozen, and now it is like walking over a frozen lake. I have had to reluctantly go back to using my stick! |

Still snowing here, and of course the snow is now falling on a layer of ice so much more dangerous than yesterday. Getting home from work yesterday was a scary experience. The roads were so slippery it only took the slightest breaking or acceleration to cause a skid. I ground to a halt in traffic, going up a steep hill and when I tried to move off the car went sideways!!!! It took about five attempts before the tyres could get any sort of a grip and I could slowly move again. Four and a half miles in 1 hour 10 minutes, but I was just pleased to have made it home in one piece. Today thankfully it has almost all melted, but more is forecast for Friday. |
