Re: THE EDWARDIANS - MARCH ON

I am confined to barracks!! I had attempted to clear the snow off my car this morning (14" - honestly!) as I was due to visit a friend in hospital this afternoon. However, my boss (daughter actually) rang up to enquire what I was doing, and I was then forbidden to leave the house. I am hoping against hope that it will be a bit better by tomorrow afternoon (although the forecasts are not good) crying. I have a doctor's appointment in the afternoon for some tests results, plus need to tell her about a couple of other bits of my body that now don't work properly. However, with the boss keeping a close eye, I probably won't get there either. sad crying I am not keen on this role reversal - I used to be the one in charge!! devilish

I can understand your frustrations Merle! crying

Snow down here too, which is a real rarity. My usual journey time of 15 minutes to work took 55 minutes, due to grid lock on some of the main roads. Some people didn't even make it in!

It'll probably be worse tomorrow as the melt re-freezes overnight, making it a complete skid-pan. sad

You're right Peter, the roads are a skidpan. I came home at midnight (on my scooter) and it was very slippery then.
yes I did make it home ok. I drove very very carefully. cool

Re: THE EDWARDIANS - MARCH ON

Good morning everyone, Apart from going to the tip, which can wait, I have no need to go out, apart from a quick walk wiv "him indoors".
Its cold yep, its snowy yep, but I have lived long enough to have seen worse- the winter of 47 the summer of 76. My latest purchase of oil for the heating arrived yesterday 3p a litre cheaper than the last lot, so it aint all doom and gloom!
Good to see a couple of recent absentees back again - sure gets quiet when you are away!
Have a good day everyone. wink

Re: THE EDWARDIANS - MARCH ON

Still snowing here, and of course the snow is now falling on a layer of ice so much more dangerous than yesterday. I am hoping for some form of thaw before this afternoon so that I can make it to the doctors (which of course will mean defying "her what makes the (my) rules)"!! crying

Re: THE EDWARDIANS - MARCH ON

Evening all

No more snow here and, in fact, it got mild enough for much of the snow to have melted away. There's still some on the pavements where it has been impacted so walking around needs care.

No post and no delivery of meat from Scotland which was due today and that's more of a consideration.

Still, as Ted says, if you lived through '47 and '63 this doesn't seem so bad.

Re: THE EDWARDIANS - MARCH ON

Been another long day, managed to get to the tip to dispose of the old carpets and resultant rubbish. Car is due for service and brakes repair on friday followed by MOT. More expense!
See you all tomorrow, Deo Volenté wink

Re: THE EDWARDIANS - MARCH ON

Tonight was just horrible outside over here. It has snowed again and this time it was a sort of semi-wet snow. sad
Don't think it will last long though. smile
