Whew! What a bunch of catching up to do!!! Okay, one thing at a time....
----------------------------------------As of now, one week since I last mention this, we are at 43,700,000+ points for the year. That puts us over half a million points AHEAD of our pace! So, basically we have five more weeks (plus a couple of days) left in the year. If those five weeks are 1,500,000 point weeks, we will make our goal of 50 million with a bit of room to spare. Thanks to everyone for your part in making this possible. Our Base Camper guests (I kinda hate calling them guests - they're team members and that's that!) have and are making quite a difference with us this year (and not just now). Our other members are by no means slacking off at all either. I can't help but notice Arthur256 in particular. They've really cranked it up cracking our Top Ten more than once! I'd love to hear from them here. For those who haven't noticed as well, we've cracked 700 years of run time this week too! We're in the top 15 teams overall in all three areas and that is NOT shabby, especially given the kind of year 2007 has been. Special congratulations go out to marysduby for cracking 12,000,000 points! Keep in mind that 8,000,000 of those are from this year! Also, more of that for CompuDude too as he cruises past 15.5 million! WOW! Dave Bell with 5000 results, Coingames with 18,000 results. LOTS of great milestones this week. Hmm, maybe I should go away more often? As for other matters, it sounds like everyone had a good Thanksgiving holiday among those celebrating it. I got smart myself and set Windows Update on my C2D before I left to download but ask me first about installing updates. My DSL stayed up and, in particular, my DLINK wireless router behaved itself so neither of my machines had any downtime while I was gone this week. No online access for a week was a bit of a new experience. I didn't go into withdrawal but it was a bit wierd. We make raz Orakk about enjoying the warm weather there but I believe it tends to also be wildfire season down under around now as well. Guess he's allowed then. Dataman, better 7 of 9 than you! Isn't perspective nice? Jonathan, I don't think it's a case of your parents thinking you're an altruistic alcoholic. I think those are polite ways of treating you as a "professional student". BTW, 80 MB hard drives aren't THAT old. I recall replacing an IBM PC XT with its 10 MB hard drive with the brand new IBM PC AT with a WHOPPING 20 MB hard drive. I couldn't imagine how I'd ever use that much space. Of course, I failed to take into account the bloat quotient of the OS as it morphed into a "virtual" sumo wrestler over the years since those innocent days. But that's modern history. Ancient history is being around in the last days of the IBM 1401. While I never did learn how to wire those boards, I did "program" a few keypunch machines! |

FWIW, on the personal front, along with hitting my first MOT million on Thanksgiving (right on schedule no less), I have now matched my previous best points ranking (2787)! It was about then that that C2D's started coming out I believe and then of course we had all the grid.org folks come over so I went into a bit of a freefall there for a while and dropped over 800 spots. It was good to see all the folks coming aboard but I have to say having one of these C2D machines is nice! Now if the bean counters don't mess up my P4 work machine being replaced with a C2D in the spring.........

Great to have you back Keith - I hope you had a great Thanksgiving break, and congrats on reaching your first MOT Million
Quick question for you......as I have now contributed 1 million here under my username Adywebb, and also 500K using Adywebb@BC - am I allowed to add them together for the purposes of displaying your MOT Hall of Fame badges? ![]() |

Quick question for you......as I have now contributed 1 million here under my username Adywebb, and also 500K using Adywebb@BC - am I allowed to add them together for the purposes of displaying your MOT Hall of Fame badges? ![]() Normally, I would discourage team members from crunching with multiple names. I suspect that could potentially lead to problems. However, with you and your fellow Base Campers, you have a unique and valid situation - you use one username for your normal home team crunching and a separate one for your Base Camp crunching. Quite understandable. Moreso, you got yourself into this situation by not only crunching on some of your machines for us under your Base Camper id but also switched a lot of your normal home team crunching machines over to us for a while to help us out even more. I'd have to be colder than old man Winter to say no to your request under those circumstances! So by all means, include both totals! It's the least I can do to thank you and your fellow Base Campers - and feel free to keep it in your signature permanently if you'd like! |

I got quite a surprise today when I checked my Results Status - I have 15 WU's in PV jail - including some where everyone in the quorum has finished crunching that WU, days ago no less. That should clear up tomorrow I bet. See Validator Problem? for more details if you have an unusually high number of WUs in the PV jail.
