Hey if it'll crunch and fits the budget - go for it.

Re: the parts bin............ I know what you mean, I've still got, 8.5 floppy drives, 2 Compaq 386, 1 Compaq 486, 1 Atari 1200 ( with games ) all in working order. Saving the best for last, an fully functional DEC PDP-11, with tty, and rk05 disk drive a 4 platters........... biggrin Not that I'm a pack rat or anyhing like that - you just never know when you may need something wink

Rick ... that's not *c*r*a*p* ... those are antiques!!! laughing It is funny how one just keeps sticking "stuff" in a box and, over time, you have the history of PC's in America biggrin Maybe I thought technology would de-evolve. laughing biggrin

You would make a good Sergeant Major, Ady! biggrin

Yes, I am “finished” but it’s not “fixed”. Finished as in it is not the hard drive I spent the morning replacing and I do not have a compatible power supply. So I put it back together and will have the PS tested sometime when I go down the hill to visit the “flatlanders”. It’s a 70 mile (113 kilometer) round trip to the nearest Fry’s, Comp USA, Circuit City, etc. from here. I only go down among the flatlanders when the need to do so reaches critical mass. wink

The day was not a total waste. In digging through box after box of “stuff”, I cleaned house! You want a 80 meg hard drive? I am not sure what dinosaur that came out of. Remember even before flatbed scanners they had the hand held ones (convenient serial port connector)? I’ll make you a deal on that! Found enough SCSI and SCSI II cable to cable a 1980’s data center. I could go on and on. I don’t know why I kept all that *c*r*a*p*. So I filled several boxes and will take it to recycling so it can be turned into something useful again. I now have three empty shelves on the rack that I can fill with “new” *c*r*a*p*. So ... not a total loss.

Ok, stand easy - you've worked hard soldier laughing

“Santa” found one of these refurbished HP m7760n for $399.99 USD + shipping. I may order one.

Introduced in January ’07, it is 10-month-old technology (archaic) but it fits my now depleted budget. Any comments?

I hate seeing that un-lit light on the KVM switch where 7 of 9 use to be. laughing biggrin laughing biggrin
