biggrin SS ... I'm not sure it matters. The faster I do them the longer they stay in the PV Jail laughing I crunched through a bunch last night and all but 3 are still in jail. I guess it will take a few days for everything to reach equilibrium again.

DDDT's are taking about 40 minutes now. I think when you register a new machine, it first gets the smallest WU's available. I've noticed that before.

I like the new machine. It is fast and runs cooler than all but one of my old single cores.

I have one VISTA problem in that I have to give BOINC permission to run every time I reboot. Need to figure that one out this morning. Other than that, everything is running good on it.

Cheers!

I keep telling you guys, subsidising your electric bill is simple.

Step 1: Get extension cord.

Step 2: Find outdoor outlet in neighbour's house.

Step 3: Run extension cord from neighbour's outlet to your surge protector. Hint: you may need a few cords depending on the distance.

Step 4: If confronted, answer your door visible drunk and smelling of whiskey holding a shotgun. Note: you may have to replug the cord every few days.

Nice idea but my nearest neighbour is so far away that the resistence drop in the cord would only have about 1 volt left as it dribbled out the end. laughing biggrin

Did everyone get their WCG email "announcing" the Cancer Project (little late on that one WCG wink ) and urging people to get off their backside and convert to BOINC?

Since it went out there has been a large increase in the number of people in the forums. 100, 150, 175 people in here at once does not happen all that often. I sampled some of the names I do not reconize and many if not most of them have not returned a result in months ... or years. I hope this means a lot of them will resume their contributions to WCG. Heck, maybe some of them will join MOT laughing biggrin

I think I finally got Vista to realize that I actually DO want to start BOINC when I reboot. wink Vista is a huge, rotting, steaming pile of <expletive deleted>. laughing biggrin

75% of the reason I uninstalled Vista was performance related. The other 25% was having to give permission to windows to run any program. Have you figured a way around the permission issue yet in Vista?

Hey... I have Vista running on my 5200+ AMD... Go to your "Control Panel/Windows Security Center/Other Security Settings" & uncheck the "User Account Control" while leaving the "Internet Security Settings" on. The OS will whine about your security settings everytime you boot up... I don't usually worry about it as the rig is on 24/7. When I DO have to reboot, I just right click on the Icon that will appear on the Toolbar @ the bottom right & just select "Exit or Close"... don't remember which it is... been a while since I rebooted...

cool

Jonathan -- That having to give permission did give us what I think is the funniest "MAC/PC" ad of them all: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VuqZ8AqmLPY&feature=related

Agreed - we dump Vista at the office before deploying new machines.

What do you guys think about taking part in a team challenge? There's a Christmas race that starts Dec. 1 and ends on the 24th (presumably at midnight). Here's the link .
