Lucky you, but switching to a different DNS server did nearly half the ping time and not only that, increased upload speeds to Toronto area from 250-300kb to 500-600kb.

Amazing, the new Public DNS service is doing wonders from my neck of the woods corner in the Italian boot... when Canadians are asleep :D

well i have done pingtest in other parts just to see how Skype would do. It good in areas close to me but other side of the country things are not as good. how do you find a service with good ping?

In this particular case where I've often said so when referring members to the search engine when having a question to which I've provided answer "Google is my friend", they really are indeed. It was rather big in the IT press, and as long as it's not yet overly known, I'm sure it will stay like that until they control that angle of world dominance too. The easy numbers to remember

Has anybody tried Google public DNS. i was reading about it
http://news.cnet.com/8301-30685_3-10408624-264.html also their is ultra DNS I have not tried any. I wanted to use Skype for calling people but the ping is so low. i was thinking maybe this could help. |

Those are the 2 DNS numbers noted above, and after doing some research not the fastest on a continuous basis. For the US that's the Verizon DNS service leaving Google in the rear view mirror... but for now, seeing a very stable, 2x quicker operation from here.

your download is awesome Tom but your right you upload is not so good.
