Re: Speed Test The Global Broadband Speed Test

wow wishes version came here i hear they have a good internet service. I dont know if they will take all your money for it but they seam ok. Thats pretty good going both ways mikey.

Thanks totally missed the ping on the left.

i believe i can not change my DNS because my modem and router well is the same thing. it all hardwired into my service, same as my anti-virus. You take the anti-virus out nothing works learned that the hard way took 10 hours on the phone with a troubleshoot to fix it, actually many because had to call back. I am going threw Bell Canada, it not actually me paying for it but... it still bothers me being the computer guy in the place. It a configuration i am not use to seeing because i use to have cable which gave you freedom to put a router on or delete the anti-virus software that came with it with out loosing internet.

Re: Speed Test The Global Broadband Speed Test

it makes me think all the downloading you could do if servers would let you. i find most sites as well as people just dont have the upload for me to download them at my max speed. So you have a big number but can not use it every where. Is this just me thinking this? i find when downloading a Torrent that this is the case. i can get the downloading high but not close to what it could be just because not many people have the upload speeds that i could handle. I check to see if i was being throttled but found nothing.

Re: Speed Test The Global Broadband Speed Test

It's called "the weakest link". Some ISPs are very sneakily throttling certain traffic... particularly those doing torrenting. That is, if there are enough replicas on the grid you can get phenomenal speeds. I had a 3.2 Gb iso downloading from his majesty MS in 10 minutes. Think that equates to 5mb per second, real and sustained.

Re: Speed Test The Global Broadband Speed Test

Most of the downloads we do, or i do, are fom free sites. We should be thankful for that, and be patient, if the speed is not sooo fast. We don't pay for it, and the owners of the sites sure cannont afford a "superduperhighspeedwowmanisthatafantastic64processorsunmachine" wink

Bad connection this evening:

You can set your DNS on your pc too, Google now has a free one 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 and it is supposed to be much faster, I have not tried it yet though. I use the free part of Open DNS for my stuff right now 208.67.222.222, 208.67.220.220. With Open DNS you can subscribe, it is not free though, and then you can block some sites on your kids machines but leave your machine wide open.
