Re: Gold Silver Bronze

We do what we can .... betas are rather scarce. I did not obviously see any in the last distribution, but one could always have run and finished before I noticed. They must have been for this:

Fight Aids at Home Phase 2 has launched and has a new badge with 2 red ribbons. If you have your projects set to automatically include it, you should be seeing a few of these now. I am seeing a distribution of maybe one of these with 9 of something else.

If you are running out of something else, this can always be added. It is advisable to select at least two projects, in case something finishes or goes to intermittent status.

Uncovering Genome Mysteries (UGM) ran out of workunits and will be in intermittent mode until the scientists generate some more workunits.

Re: Gold Silver Bronze

Fight Aids At Home Phase 2 units are running over 10 hours each, as opposed to OET which is about an hour each. It makes sense that fewer of these new ones are needed in the queue since each job is a lot slower to finish.

Re: Gold Silver Bronze

Oooohhh, I've just been checking up on my machines. They snagged a beta or two last night. Using my enhanced digital calculator (the one where I take my socks off) I've estimated that I might have just enough to get a green beta badge this weekend. biggrin

I'm not sure I'll live long enough to see a blue one beside my name though. At the current rate of new projects and betas that'd probably take another 100 years. laughing

To get a beta, first you need a reliable computer, of course.
I don't think they like to see a long queue with 8 days of work piled up. They want fast turnarounds.

Re: Gold Silver Bronze

I got a few betas for UGM. It looks like they are getting ready to remove the project from intermittent status and restart it. I have 2 years worth of work on most things, so am currently working on Fight Aids @ Home phase 2 and Clean Energy. I was set up for much too few clean energy, and will let a lot of them run. I will stop those Nov 1 because they run too long. I will shorten the queue.
I will be out for 1.5 weeks in early November so will close down for that, but will check now and then to see how things are going.

Re: Gold Silver Bronze

running mostly Clean Energy phase 2 until the end of October (I previously had it allocated to only "1" per queue but the computers are not complaining about "unlimited"), a few days of FA@H2 in November, queue is reduced to 1 day, out of town for 1.5 weeks, and finally back to a lot more FA@H2 and CE2 mix after I tune the number. With "unlimited", CE2 takes over.

It is now "16" on an 8 core computer with a 2 day queue and "10" on a 6 core computer with a 2 day queue. I am getting some of both now.

Re: Gold Silver Bronze

Check the research overview at upper left now and then if you are trying to finish a badge for multiple years. 5 projects are currently active.

Fight Aids @ Home phase 2 -- 1% -- just started, with a lot of work available (I have almost 1 year. I might then shift to OET and UGM for more before they are done)
Outsmart Ebola Together -- 68% (I have 2 years)
Uncovering Genome Mysteries -- 46% (I have 2 years)
Mapping Cancer Markers -- 73% (I have 5 years)
The Clean Energy Project phase 2 -- 68% (I have 1 year, working on 2)

Re: Gold Silver Bronze

I'm concentrating on UGM and OET just now. They've got the shortest time left. Once they're at 10 years I'll move on to FAAH2 and push that up, but I might also throw some MCM into the blend. It'd be nice to get 20 years for that. I doubt that's going to be possible, but since FAAH2 and CEP2 both have years to run, it won't hurt me to give it a go.

OET must have made some more work units, since they are only at 17% complete now.
I have 3 years there.

Projects currently more than 2/3 done are
UGM 71%
CEP2 64%
MCM 74%

I have 5 years for MCM, so am concentrating on the other two if I can get them from 2 years to 5 years. After that I will shift to the longer term projects. FA@H2 has a year done. I will be out for a week next with computers off, but will return.
