Eeeek. I really don't understand why PC PSUs tend to be so horrid. They have all these wonderful monitoring and built-in diagnostics to startup cleanly yet it has no memory for problems. You would have thought that a problem like this would be simple to catch as if it gets an internal shutdown signal too often then it's pretty obvious there is a fault. Maybe it is time for one with more wattage, if there is room in the same size PSU box....and a battery backup if power failures are going to be a problem.Guess there is no substitute for spending far more than you wanted to and hoping you gambled on the right brand.

Easy to remember now...the vultures are 110th best at everything. The trend is to bigger numbers, so we won't stay there.

I don't know why I bothered getting a new server setup to give the team a boost. OK well I do know actually, bit of spare cash, space in my 'office', lots of spare network ports on my switch......well who wouldn't? |

Is everyone on holiday or have I missed the team changing to a new thread? Not been any updates here for over a month Part of it is my fault. I will be out of town for a little over a week, and preparation has sucked up a lot of time. I haven't said much. There hasn't been any new project in months, and I am just working on old things to keep the computers busy since everything has their two years in. I have still been crunching, but haven't said much about it. The computers will be turned off saturday morning until a week from tuesday evening.I did get a nearby lightning strike a couple of weeks ago. It took out a computer monitor and a microwave oven.

I did get a nearby lightning strike a couple of weeks ago. It took out a computer monitor and a microwave oven. This seems to happen to you a lot......I would be worried that some deity is keeping an eye on me and sending reminders about my behaviour. Either that or be even more worried that the electrical system in the area is iffy and waiting to fry me when I grab the wrong thing at the wrong time..... |

I haven't said much. There hasn't been any new project in months, and I am just working on old things to keep the computers busy since everything has their two years in. I have still been crunching, but haven't said much about it. I hit that two year thing, but once I'd gotten that for all the projects I could I took a look at Sek's chart with the projected finish dates of projects that were still running and set about trying to get 5 years in each of those. A few projects scuppered my plan of attack by finishing earlier than expected so I didn't get the 5 years I wanted . But as Rabbie put it "The best laid plans o' mice and men gang aft aglay. An' lea'e us nowt but grief an' pain for promis'd joy!"But a little target to aim for keeps the interest, and if I succeeded every time it wouldn't be much of a challenge. ![]() |

I'm thinking of popping over to team SNURK for a week or two. I don't use one of his sigs myself, but I recognise the amount of time and effort he puts into them and think it'd be nice to say thanks with a few WU's for his team.
