OK, I've now popped over to team SNURK for a little while. But in the words of the Governator "I'll be back!" I can't pop around, or it messes up the whole captaincy thing. Will we get any little snurks over here?

Well I'd no intention to apply for a SNURK sig, I'm none too bothered about displaying in my posts how my crunching is doing. I know where I'm at from the My Grid page.
----------------------------------------I don't know though, I feel a little as though I'm unintentionally slighting SNURK by crunching a few units for his team to thank him for the effort he puts in on his sigs without having one on display, so I may reconsider and a little snurk sig may pop up in my posts. Oooh, I hadn't even realised what a Snurk sig looked like but now I'm tempted. Although I have my stats page bookmarked I can never tell whether I am sinking or swimming as my rank numbers are getting too big to remember so the little = or down arrow would be useful But I don't need one really Oh how I hate having to make a decision Edit: and it appears I can't type either [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Oct 14, 2013 11:11:11 AM] |

Hmm...
Yes the little arrows can be helpful, except it depends a lot on the project mix. Currently I'm crunching around 90% CEP 10% AIDS as the CEP is next to finish and I'm trying for 5 years. But CEP are longer running units so your results/day takes a beating and I also feel they don't pay as well points wise. The thing I'd find most interesting is the average runtime per project. I missed out on a few early projects, but I've made up for that later with a few 5 years on other projects. So overall my average is just over 2y and once I get 5 years in what projects I can I may try to push up my SNURK average to 5 years also. It doesn't matter to me how many or few projects there are, I always find something to aim for. Pity I couldn't sell/swap years/points in current projects for some in projects I don't have. |

I've returned, my oldest cruncher has decided it is enjoying crashing after an hour or so of running. So no WCG for it just now.
I suspect it's overheating so I've checked the fan is still working, but it wasn't that. Now I've bought some heatsink paste and some cleaning fluid. When I get the time I'll get into it and clean the heatsink and CPU and reapply some fresh paste. I'm tempted though to replace it if it keeps playing up. It's getting on a bit and has had a couple of spares already. But I don't like the idea of dumping it if it's a cheap problem to fix. |

Not been any updates on here for a while so I presume that we are all too busy living our lives (Bah Humbug Christmas etc etc). To be honest there is no real update from me either but I thought I would give the thread a nudge to see if anyone responded.
Do hope it is the 'all too busy' side rather than the team going to the Dark Side.......The Bitcoin Miners Club |

I'm still here. Been wondering myself where everyone had got to.

Still plodding along, checking out the stats at free-dc it seems to be pretty much business as usual for everyone.
I've been keeping an eye on the Ripple goings on, don't understand that digital currency stuff myself but there are one or two new folks here at WCG because of it which is good. So if I can point someone new here who understands as much about WCG as I do about Ripples in the right direction I try to do so. If I can get my head round what those Ripples things are exactly, and understand why it isn't just a version of the old South Sea Bubble scheme, pyramid selling, or pump and dump scams I might try crunching for them to get a few ripples, but ATM I've had neither the time or inclination. I did have a little extra crunchpower courtesy of a winning auction on ebay with a bit of a cheeky bid which I didn't really think would win since it was a lot lower than similar spec machines sold for. I was intending to build up as a NAS device, but I hit a bit of a problem when it proved difficult to get FreeNAS to play with BOINC then whilst trying to figure out a solution a friend who runs his own business suffered a hardware failure and needed a replacement server very quickly. So to cut a long story short my "new" machine ended up making a speedy exit to a new owner with me back to prowling e-bay with a tidy little extra pile of cash looking for the next winning cheeky bid. ![]() |

On a side note, anyone know if Retsof is ok? He's not posted in about 3 1/2 months. His machines are still contributing, so I hope it's just that he's hit a busy patch work-wise.
