I'm back! And cruncher is a-crunching again! Hi Fraz, welcome back... and drat! I was just looking at the free-dc stats and I 'd have overtaken you in a mere 6-7 years if you had stayed stopped. ![]() |

I see a new project. Since I have two years done for MCM, I am shifting my new work to UGM. My default is to add new projects, so I saw it in my waiting queue. I still run a Clean Energy Project when I can get one, but they are quite rare. Project Points Generated Results Returned Total Run Time (y:d:h:m:s) Uncovering Genome Mysteries 161,469 269 0:060:00:06:10 Mapping Cancer Markers 64,049,387 87,449 49:272:07:58:29 I didn't realise that Clean Energy WU were thin on the ground, but then I've not been hanging around the forums as much this last year. Job promotion = new level of busy. I've been getting a steady stream on the machine I've detailed to do CEP/UGM. About a 50/50 split of units. |

On seeing that ugm is about 1% complete in less than a week I've decided to up the resources %age detailed to it just now so that I can get at least a sapphire badge before it finishes.

Looks like Fraz has started getting units out of PV jail after he fired up the machines again. Well...winter is coming and you need to put some heating on in the house.

Well...winter is coming and you need to put some heating on in the house. ![]() Just a single machine i'm afraid, and a pretty old one nowadays, although still plenty good at keeping the room it's in warm . It's nearly 4.5 years old now, although give it's a 6 core/12 thread i7 980x CPU, still surprisingly competitive. And no-longer overclocked either. Not much time to mess about with computers these days, so stability is the order of the day rather than outright speed. Been pretty busy renovating my entire house, changing jobs/careers, and as of 14 days ago I'm now a father also ![]() |

Congratulations Fraz, remember to introduce the little one to the joys of crunching in a few years time. (And I'm not talking about rusks)

I've got a cruncher that's a bit poorly ATM, needs a new CPU fan (and a Round Tuit). I need to get both of those prior to fitting, so it's offline just now.

A WCG article about the Ebola project appeared in the Sunday newspaper today. I had been running Ebola betas for a couple of days. The project just went active and wondered why my auto-include didn't work. This project has a specific wrinkle in the requirements. My device specifications was set to "no" to resolve a previous problem with memory, but reset it to "yes".
-------------------------------------------from the specific requirements for the Ebola project--- Users who choose to run this project are encouraged to set the 'Leave applications in memory while suspended' option in their device profile

I finished 2 years worth of Uncovering Genome Mysteries and was think of taking it offline. On the other hand, higher badges are available for up to 100 years now, so I need to reinvestigate. The next opportunity is 5 years, and I have over 5 years of AIDS work, so get the first new diamond badge.
----------------------------------------An old computer decided that it was unfixable, so I have replaced it with a newer quad Intel with 8 threads, meaning that is running 8 things simultaneously. With another 6 core AMD running, I might be able to move the daily numbers up a little. The old hard drive is now in an external USB box, since my web library and a few other things I want are on it. Now that I can do a little more, I hope I can help move some of this stuff into the top 100 again.
