Re: WCG VFD (Volunteer Fire Department)

U see Addy, you are, we are getting to the point what i was writing to u about..... no more tools needed, no further specificity in rules on paper. We can talk about them, consider them, but do we want them, or be let to maintain decorum without higher interference?

It's Friday, so lets see how were fare with the weekend upon us.

have a nice one.

I'm not coming back till Monday! laughing
HMM, just thought on that. There's nothing I can think off that can't ever wait for the weekend to pass.
I think I'll do my posting during the week and stay away on weekends
Enjoy guys!

Ah gotcha now Sek cool - didn't understand before blushing

I would prefer the "be let to maintain decorum without higher interference" option and see how it goes rather than jump to more drastic measures that may not be required.

All aboard the Fire Engine!! - lets enjoy the weekend biggrin

Re: WCG VFD (Volunteer Fire Department)

Profanity is pretty clear cut and simple to deal with.

As I showed earlier this is not the case, words from your own keyboard were pretty profane and what is acceptable to me may not be to another. Biblical terms for example OMG being one. There are many things you accept as suitable where another may not.

When a peer offers respecful guidance and/or correction

It can be viewed as condescending / acting superior.

There are no hard fast rules or blindingly easy solutions to human relationships....Thank the Lord. What may appear to you to be my sheer arrogance may be thought of by another as strength of character. This is part of why we don`t all marry the same woman /man.

To state peerage can correct all arguments in all forms is asinine. 33% of the population has some psychopathic tendancy, they`re not alway`s wrong but in their eyes alway`s right. There is very little treatment for this condition, infact what any good psychiatric trained person will tell you is to stay away from these people or ignore them, it`s the only way. A word of note, these types of people will not alway`s be the bad guy quite often they are clever and will work their way up a system.

Nelsoc get`s respect automatically ? Why ?

Because he has the power and it`s a waste of time arguing against it (note: He`s also seen to be pretty fair in his judgement which gains kudos). He IS the PROJECT.

A CA is just a cruncher who has volunteered for a rotten job, he`s not neutral and though I appreciate most it`s like the volunteer copper....Why do they do it ? Is it the uniform ? The power ? Or really wanting to help ? Could you swear that the latter is applicable to all ? Or is there someone with a psychopathic tendancy in there too ?

It`s very difficult to judge it all and peer pressure only goes so far, what is acceptable to me on my forum may not be here, just don`t ask me to be a bot...I`m human, I err and I argue, the latter is how I learn.

Re: WCG VFD (Volunteer Fire Department)

Well, Carl, it would seem that my "hillbilly" background is showing. We tend to be pretty practical about things. Profanity is generally seen as your well know four letter cuss words. Deal with that and you generally don't have much else in the way of profanity to deal with. We're not much inclined to get into linguistic discussions. Maybe that's one of the advantages of "Southern" English. One's not a troublemaker - they simply have a knack for slapping the backside of a polecat. Someone isn't narrowminded - they just have a unique ability to rub their ears together. We don't call someone an idiot - we simply say "Bless his heart" biggrin

We usually figure if you go looking for something specific, you'll end up finding it - at least so you'll think. Supposedly that's why those that like to look for trouble have a knack for finding it - and often getting into it. We have typically mellowed some nowadays. We can be a pretty good friend but time was, if we were given cause to not care too much for someone, we'd just shoot 'em - put 'em out of their misery that way. wink Wasn't really meanness....more a matter of mercy. laughing

Seriously, you're right Carl. It's not a perfect world. Life is not black and white. But why should that stop us from trying....

As for me, this thread is pretty much done. If I don't like the regular "set-to's" that seem to find their way to these forums, then I can either try to do something about it or keep my trap shut. I tend to presume that folks will live up to expectations, not down. Yes, there are some who just can't seem to help being ornery but that's just part of being human. I don't call myself a senile old fart for nothing. smile

Just wanted to retain this prose by carl.h and let it sit there to ponder for a while:

thanks for tabling this carl.h... have a nice weekend!
