I didn't do that re-set recommended by Sek, Didactylos - that message log is all since I re-installed the client from scratch. You are going to have to explain what is and how I create a preference overide file for BOINC I'm afraid ![]() No reset heh...... there was no dead give away in your log you did that cheers PS, our 'greatest' friend actually posted an override file here on the forum

Addyweb,
I have updated the servers with the fix. Can you do a 'update project' and then let us know the following: 1) If you have a global_prefs.xml file in your BOINC install dir 2) What messages were logged during the update. 3) If the answer to question 1 was yes, then remove the override file, exit BOINC and then start it again. Let us know if your settings from the web are being used. thanks, Kevin |

That appears to have done the trick Kevin
1) global_prefs_xml file now in the BOINC install dir 2) oops - re-started BOINC without copying the messages, sorry Kevin , from what I recall it seemed to be saying the right things.3) Removed the overide file and re-started BOINC - here is the latest messages log: 15/11/2006 17:19:38||Starting BOINC client version 5.4.9 for windows_intelx86 15/11/2006 17:19:38||libcurl/7.15.3 OpenSSL/0.9.8a zlib/1.2.3 15/11/2006 17:19:38||Data directory: C:\Program Files\BOINC 15/11/2006 17:19:38||Processor: 1 AuthenticAMD AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2000+ 15/11/2006 17:19:38||Memory: 1023.48 MB physical, 2.40 GB virtual 15/11/2006 17:19:38||Disk: 114.48 GB total, 89.30 GB free 15/11/2006 17:19:38|World Community Grid|URL: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/; Computer ID: 82826; location: home; project prefs: home 15/11/2006 17:19:38||General prefs: from World Community Grid (last modified 2006-11-13 17:31:49) 15/11/2006 17:19:38||General prefs: using separate prefs for home 15/11/2006 17:19:38||Local control only allowed 15/11/2006 17:19:38||Listening on port 31416 15/11/2006 17:19:38|World Community Grid|Resuming task faah0895_bdb072_mx1ohr_dry_02_2 using faah version 528 From that it would appear to have correctly picked up my web preferences. Thanks for sorting this out Kevin, I know there are a few from other teams who had this problem and have been following this thread - I'm sure I can thank you on their behalf as well ![]() Cheers, Ady ![]() |

Yep ... worked for me also ... I was not using an override file (I had just manually updated the global pref file) .... after the projest update I got:
11/16/2006 6:51:08 AM|World Community Grid|General preferences have been updated 11/16/2006 6:51:08 AM||General prefs: from World Community Grid (last modified 2006-11-16 06:47:32) 11/16/2006 6:51:08 AM||General prefs: using separate prefs for work and the global prefs file was correctly updated .... thx much! |
