I have started getting errors on wu's and i dont know why.
Nothing has changed on my end as far as i know. Below is the log from BOINC. Is this a problem this side on with the BOINC servers? The other results in the quorum are reading as an error too, does this mean its a bad batch of WU's? If you need me to post anymore info let me know. Thanks in advance. 12/11/2006 13:08:22||Starting BOINC client version 5.4.11 for windows_intelx86 12/11/2006 13:08:22||libcurl/7.15.3 OpenSSL/0.9.8a zlib/1.2.3 12/11/2006 13:08:22||Data directory: C:\Program Files\BOINC 12/11/2006 13:08:22||Processor: 2 AuthenticAMD AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4800+ 12/11/2006 13:08:22||Memory: 2.00 GB physical, 3.85 GB virtual 12/11/2006 13:08:22||Disk: 189.91 GB total, 114.13 GB free 12/11/2006 13:08:22|World Community Grid|URL: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/; Computer ID: 71833; location: home; project prefs: home 12/11/2006 13:08:22||General prefs: from World Community Grid (last modified 2006-11-07 14:10:17) 12/11/2006 13:08:22||General prefs: using separate prefs for home 12/11/2006 13:08:22||Local control only allowed 12/11/2006 13:08:22||Listening on port 31416 12/11/2006 13:08:22|World Community Grid|Resuming task B10233_0178_CTMA4A-40-22-4_1 using hdc version 514 12/11/2006 13:08:22|World Community Grid|Resuming task B10231_0099_CTMA3D2-15-16-18_3 using hdc version 514 12/11/2006 13:10:25|World Community Grid|Started upload of file faah0892_bdb699_mx7upj_03_1_1 12/11/2006 13:10:29|World Community Grid|Error on file upload: socket read incomplete: asked for 16382, got 0: No such file or directory 12/11/2006 13:10:29|World Community Grid|Temporarily failed upload of faah0892_bdb699_mx7upj_03_1_1: transient upload error 12/11/2006 13:10:29|World Community Grid|Backing off 3 hours, 50 minutes and 19 seconds on upload of file faah0892_bdb699_mx7upj_03_1_1 12/11/2006 14:19:31|World Community Grid|Started upload of file faah0892_bdb699_mx7upj_03_1_1 12/11/2006 14:19:35|World Community Grid|Error on file upload: socket read incomplete: asked for 16382, got 0: No such file or directory 12/11/2006 14:19:35|World Community Grid|Temporarily failed upload of faah0892_bdb699_mx7upj_03_1_1: transient upload error 12/11/2006 14:19:35|World Community Grid|Backing off 2 hours, 38 minutes and 36 seconds on upload of file faah0892_bdb699_mx7upj_03_1_1 12/11/2006 14:46:51|World Community Grid|Sending scheduler request to https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/boinc/wcg_cgi/fcgi 12/11/2006 14:46:51|World Community Grid|Reason: Requested by user 12/11/2006 14:46:51|World Community Grid|(not requesting new work or reporting completed tasks) 12/11/2006 14:46:56|World Community Grid|Scheduler request succeeded 12/11/2006 14:56:32|World Community Grid|Started upload of file faah0892_bdb699_mx7upj_03_1_1 12/11/2006 14:56:35|World Community Grid|Error on file upload: socket read incomplete: asked for 16382, got 0: No such file or directory 12/11/2006 14:56:35|World Community Grid|Temporarily failed upload of faah0892_bdb699_mx7upj_03_1_1: transient upload error 12/11/2006 14:56:35|World Community Grid|Backing off 2 hours, 19 minutes and 44 seconds on upload of file faah0892_bdb699_mx7upj_03_1_1 12/11/2006 15:12:17|World Community Grid|Started upload of file faah0892_bdb699_mx7upj_03_1_1 12/11/2006 15:12:21|World Community Grid|Error on file upload: socket read incomplete: asked for 16382, got 0: No such file or directory 12/11/2006 15:12:21|World Community Grid|Temporarily failed upload of faah0892_bdb699_mx7upj_03_1_1: transient upload error 12/11/2006 15:12:21|World Community Grid|Backing off 3 hours, 27 minutes and 50 seconds on upload of file faah0892_bdb699_mx7upj_03_1_1 |

V_R,
----------------------------------------we assume you've booted your machine to reset all and everything of junk and memory leaks building up after a long time in the air, then keep monitoring and advise if the results status page identifies it as an error or invalid WU. thanks PS, had an result upload going fine about 1.5 hours ago.

It looks like the result file has been truncated. If you are correct that it is a bad work unit, then WCG will look into it. Let us know if the problem happens with another work unit (all the messages you have shown us relate to the same file).
Meanwhile, you will probably want to abort that unit. |

Hi Sek, Thanks for replying.
---------------------------------------- Yep, i rebooted before i posted the log. The PC had been up for well over a week. Should have posted the log before really, sorry. I did notice before the reboot that the disk space under the 'disk tab' was at over 630MB! I have 6 in the queue and two running and have never seen it that high. However its gone down to 77MB now still two running and six queued, that's more like it. Everything does seem to be back to normal now, had a couple of Wu's go through without a prob. Still got one sat in the 'transfers' tab, every time i tried to upload it i get the same message in the messages tab. 12/11/2006 16:46:33|World Community Grid|Started upload of file faah0892_bdb699_mx7upj_03_1_1 12/11/2006 16:46:37|World Community Grid|Error on file upload: socket read incomplete: asked for 16382, got 0: No such file or directory 12/11/2006 16:46:37|World Community Grid|Temporarily failed upload of faah0892_bdb699_mx7upj_03_1_1: transient upload error 12/11/2006 16:46:37|World Community Grid|Backing off 1 hours, 22 minutes and 56 seconds on upload of file faah0892_bdb699_mx7upj_03_1_1 So i just hit the abort button, i reckon it'll throw up and error anyway... So far all the results i have probs with have been recorded as 'Error' not 'inconclusive'. It all started last night with all faah units being sen back with an error after 8 minutes and claming 1 point. Below is one of the wu with the error. Mine in bold. Thanks. ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Nov 12, 2006 5:14:46 PM] |

hmm now i see... u have HDC going... u need to allocate 2gb harddisk space for that per the system requirements page..... that's not to say that's the specific cause, but the disk space is hinting in that direction.
----------------------------------------Space allocation is done in the Device Manager profile for BOINC. cheers

I've not had any of the new FAAH on BOiNC..... you can see the graphics when u select a progressing FAAH and hit that button?
----------------------------------------You seem now to cycle thru WU's rapidly, thus supply will soon dry up. Maybe run some diagnostics. See the Start Here FAQ for the useful utilities. sorry

Yes, i see the graphics from the currently running wu's.
----------------------------------------I only going though the Wu's quickly because they were only running for 8 minutes each. I got 2 running at the mo, been going for 1.5 hours each with no worries. Looks like its a return to normality? I hope.... I will run some diagnostics, but i don't think there is any thing amiss here. Oh, and if you wondered my 4800x2 is still sitting at stock speeds, its only a month old. ![]() Thanks for the help though. ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Nov 12, 2006 5:53:40 PM] |
