mod_time: The last modification of the Participant's Global Preferences occurred at the Unix time stamp `mod_time`.

Ady, you don't have the file because you did a project reset. That deletes all preferences from the client.

If either of you need to get things working quickly, before knreed sorts out the problem, then you can use a preference override file to force BOINC to use the option you want.

I didn't do that re-set recommended by Sek, Didactylos - that message log is all since I re-installed the client from scratch.

You are going to have to explain what is and how I create a preference overide file for BOINC I'm afraid blushing

Same difference - reset should put it back in fresh install state.

Now, the override file. Create a blank text file. Name it global_prefs_override.xml and copy this into it:

<global_preferences>
<work_buf_min_days>2.0</work_buf_min_days>
</global_preferences>

Then restart BOINC. Check the messages tab again.

You can add other preferences as shown in global_prefs.xml (but you don't have it yet!) or check the reference here: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/prefs_override.php

Do I need to add those other preferences too - or will the fixes that Kevins doing remedy that?

Do I take it the reason it didn't download the relevant global preferences file is due to the bug Kevin was talking about, and in normal circumstances it would have done when I installed BOINC? - Is this likely to effect what Kevin is now doing at his end?

The other preferences should be okay at the default values.

When Kevin has fixed whatever is wrong, simply delete the override file.
